Why shouldn't they try and get a few $ an hour more? Amazon is a 1.5 trillion dollar company. The worst that can happen is that they won't get a raise but will still likely get some concessions.

Worst that can happen is they get laid off. But they aren't in a skilled position and thus are fairly easy to replace. If you are in a tough job like amazon warehouse work, its because you either get paid significantly more ($4-5 an hour could be significant at the level these guys make) or can't find anything else. Its tough to unionize when your balls are in a vice.
They want a bigger cut of the money they make the company. If 26$ is so great you should do it. You should pay rent in San Bernadino and do their job for their pay.
I live in California and make 17.50 operating a CNC lathe. I believe that I could make more, and deserve to make more. Fast food workers and box lifters are not in the same tier as me. They deserve to make less.

I also believe you deserve to make more. You should walk out and demand more money like them instead of pooh-poohing them.
People, in general, are paid what they are worth. Sometimes you have to fight a bit to get paid what you're worth, but generally the difference is not large. If Amazon workers really are terribly underpaid and deserve more, they should easily be able to find another job that pays them appropriately. If they can't, well, that indicates they don't actually deserve more for the skills and services they provide.
The people actually keeping the lights on in this country with hard skills are definitely not paid what they are “worth.” They are paid the bare minimum required to reap the corporations maximum profit before they walk or not apply. People are generally paid less than what they are worth. Most people never realize this and take action. I’m all for walking off poor working conditions and poor pay.

People, in general take what they are offered and don’t realize they can ask for more.
Sure, individuals may have a tough time finding a higher paying gig. Or, the can collectively bargain to get more.
If all sides use their leverage, you should get people being paid what they are worth.
because they're dumb and they think if they keep getting raises they'll be able to "afford" stuff again, not realizing like (how republicans have said all along) that raising minimum wage raises the cost of goods...
and the whole "replace everyone with robots" thing didn't work out. so here we are.
The “stuff” they are trying to afford is rent. They also think that If pay keeps going up it will match the yearly increase in cost of living,oh and it was Republicans who have said all along that they would replace their staff with robots if they demanded$15/hr.... yet here we are at $26.

It doesn't change the fact that if businesses and landlords know that people are making more money, they'll just charge more and repeat the cycle.
It's a tough situation for sure and there doesn't seem to be a clear answer.

nah, they needed to go from iPhone 13 -> iPhone 14, too. you left that part out. oh? your car is 9 months old? better trade it in upside down.
and yes, i know that republicans wanted to replace staff with robots. it didn't work. so companies have to continue hiring, continue paying more, and continuing to raise cost of goods.
$26 per hr doesn’t sound bad. So they’re walking off the job at the Amazon warehouse in San Bernardino CA. We’re all dealing with inflation, so why does everyone feel entitled to a raise? I’m sure they get overtime, something hospital workers can’t even get these days with administrators cracking down on any OT.
Why is it that the people most easily replaced by robot are the most likely to walk off the job? I wonder if bezos has planted people in the workforce to incite some sort of color revolution. Get all these easily replaceable people to stop working, making it easier to fire them all so that you can replace them with robots without having to pay severance.

It’s not tough and it clear- as cost of good increase then people will just spend money on essentials. Lots of businesses(mostly restaurants, and high end clothing and gifts shops will close. This will leave just big box chains like Walmart and target to cover all needs. Commercial real estate especially in downtowns will lose value, the stock markets will lose value because no one will be putting money into their 401k’s. in the end by not simply allowing the middle class to return the wealthy will lose big in their 2 main sources of wealth(investment income and real estate income) thus having to rely on heavily taxed working income! And you will see a decline in generational wealth due to their fear of giving the working class some breathing room

Try supporting a family on $26 per hour.
Two adults working full time at $26 / hour will have a household income of $104,000. That's obviously not super wealthy, but for an two unskilled laborers with no qualifications, it doesn't seem terrible to me.

You are looking at this incorrectly. If workers organize, they have leverage. An individual unskilled worker has nearly no leverage versus management. I heard a few Amazon warehouse workers talking to each other in a bar about 2 3/4 years ago. I kept hearing $12/hr. Obviously Amazon workers know what they are doing. Amazon warehouse workers have significantly increased their hourly wage over the past 3 years. If Amazon were not profitable, warehouse workers would not have been successful over the years with their demands. Maybe you and your co-workers can learn something by the success Amazon workers have demonstrated.

50000 is the new 30000 in this economy (less in California). If minimum wage would have kept up with inflation it would be about 25 dollars a hour right now. And enough about what these capitalist will do if the workers demand a fair wage. They were the ones who screwed up this economy. If class consciousness fully awaken, which it slowly is with more and more of the workers working hard at unionizing, the last thing these capitalist will have to worry about is paying a fair wage.

You know, workers have the right to demand more from a profitable employer like Amazon when they're treated like garbage. It's not always about the money either.
If you make 26 & your employer can comfortably pay you double or triple and you're the one doing the front line labor for them why wouldn't you advocate for more? Amazon can spread their money around a lot better than they currently are.
