Not really, I ran 16:20 at 36 on 20miles or less a week....

Friend of mine ran 15:01 at age 51.
I ran 15:29 mid 30’s l started running at age 28. I was running around 40-45 mi per week. Full time job, a family with 2 little kids and also going studying.
his mileage was higher than 40, no?
What state are you living in? Lmao No. 1? My number 1 is 16:20
It's equivalent to putting up 225 on the bench 2 or 3 times.
I’m 35 running 15 or 20 miles a week right now and running a 5k in September, I’ll let you know how it goes.

Is it impressive? Age 34.
34, 5' 4" and 135 lbs not so much. 34 and normal, that's great! But you do mean a little pygmy right?
We need a ventolin mpw conversion. Where would OP be at across distances from 1500m to Marathon if he trained more?
From what I can tell, most sub-17 masters I know train 40-60 miles per week.
So 40 would be at the low end to achieve 16:45 at the OP's age.
However, it matters whether he has been 'building up' to this ability as a lifetime PR at 34, or 'coming down' from faster running and more training in his 20s.
The latter is less impressive. Getting from the coach or rec league soccer to 16:45 in your 30s is noteworthy. If you were running 14-something at 29 years old and can still manage 16:45 at 34, that is nice but kind of meh in my opinion.
I started running at 22 years old and was never very fast. My all-time PB for 5k is 16:49, but I don't seem to be slowing down very much yet. Now age 48, and ran a 17:06 this year off 25 miles/week. Typical week includes 4 days of running and some easy biking and weights on the "off" days. Not much easy running - I like to include some quality in most runs or I get bored!
36 yrs old. Run between 15-20 mpw. Have stayed right around 17-17:20 for 5k. I don't really do workouts; just most of my runs at 6:30 or faster and will usually try to run 5:30 or so for the last mile. I don't do a long run or really any runs over 6 miles.
All is know, is everything hurts. Even at 20 mpw. I miss my college running days when it all felt easy. But life happens. I have a greater appreciation for my runs now in between work and family. And I don't mind putting the hammer down on some 13 yr old at the finish line of my local 5k haha.
To the OP, 16:45 is great. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise. You're winning most local 5k's with that and certainly winning your age group. Run because you enjoy doing it. It shouldn't be a chore in your 30's.

There's a guy in my local area who did that, hammered every run at 6 pace and ended up with knee surgery. Hasn't run in a long time now. I'll try and find his profile.
