The real reason they aren’t in better meets is Ray Flynn. He’s a highly underperforming agent with little pull. It’s not surprising he can only get a 3:31 and 3:34 guy into meets like the Finland-whatever-meet.

This makes no sense. Cole Hocker is not in great shape. He was better than this as a teenager.
And Flynn got Josette Norris into the 3K in Lausanne, which is a stretch. He's gotten Klecker into top meets given his credentials. Ditto Isaiah Harris, even with missing teams.
Ok, that makes sense. I thought he'd be a little further along than that. I can see why he wouldn't want to go to a DL and run 3:40 in that field. There's a lot of low-key meets in Europe right now where he can race himself back to fitness.
That aside, I don't get why some think he couldn't get a spot in Lausanne. He's had a rough year but still ran pretty well indoors and ran 3:31 in the Olympic final, plus, getting American eyeballs on the DL is a strategic aim for World Athletics so an America in the race would be helpful.

I don’t see how Hocker finishing dead last in a DL would be “helpful”. He’s a great runner but he seems to far from being in top shape.

I'm pretty sure you two agree. He's saying two things: a) It makes sense that Hocker isn't running in Lausanne, given that he's not yet in shape; and, b) it does not make sense to say, as many did in this thread, that even if Hocker was in shape, he would not belong in the Lausane DL. He says the DL would want him, given his record, and given that having him in the race would "get American eyeballs" on the DL.

Make that:

I kinda lost you there. If he is fit, Hocker would very much belong at Lausanne but he’s not, so he shouldn’t run, I don’t know what American eyeballs have to do with it.
is it just me or is drew big for a runner..... i feel like his legs are slowing him down because they are akwardly large maybe im wrong, but to say the least he has very interesting form
Which yes points to two things: 1) Ray Flynn's pull as an agent is not the reason Hocker isn't in Lausanne 2) Either Hocker or Flynn doesn't think Hocker should run in that hot a race yet. Let's just note that there's a world where 3:33 in that race is 13th or 14th place.
