I said sub-2:35 potential. 16-flat converts to low-2:30s. Just trying to put 16/16:30/17 in perspective for OP. This, again, shows why using a 5k time to predict longer events doesn't always work. I can run 5:30 pace for 10 but can't break 16 for an XC 5k. You have the potential to go faster than me with the right training.
Also idk where the 18:xx 5k's & sub-2:40s are coming from. Did ya'll run big 5k PBs right after your marathons? What can you run for 5k now & has your marathon improved? My guess is that you would have run a big 5k PB if you had raced that sometime around the sub-2:40. That's definitely an outlier.
