My guess is that she is unhappy about the Mary Moraa fiasco at the Commonwealth Games. She and Mu are likely going to have to deal with this nonsense for years. Moraa's performance was one of the most Rashid Ramzi moments we have seen in a long time.
Way too much pressure from her idiot coach and his dumb wife, as they chase the cash!!,!!!
This girl has had bad quad injuries past couple of years, they know her limiting factor against mu is her 400 (she isn’t even the fastest over 400 of the womens 8 runners in the uk) but each indoor they make her try and it knocks her back, same as at British outdoor this year
they have no clue about speed training and just think “try To run fast” is enough without addressing her actual needs
She's ranked #1 in the world. Ahead of Athing Mu. She's far too young and accomplished to leave the sport. She's only trying to figure out a strategy to have a win streak. She's not down.
As a Brit who see’s the media furore from over here can I chime in,she’s ok doing the media but unlike some other Brits she’s not a whore for it and iam pretty sure it’s part of the athletes contract that they have to pass through the media corridor and def talk to the BBC,sure she’d love to just on sometimes it’s not like any of the questions are going to be anything unpredictable, athletics is one of the few sports the BBC still covers extensively [very],everyone has bbc on their t.v’s regardless of whatever else they might subscribe to,all of this summers three championships have been broadcast live all day simply alternating for large chunks between different bbc channels, she is hugely hyped also by the newspapers and their on-line content, she definitely knew what she was getting into being coached/mentored by an ex GB athlete and based at Loughborough’s high performance centre and having grown up seeing all this play out for athletes before her[the presentation and hype has followed a formula for further back than 2012],all of the above media love their ‘narratives’ with athletes the favourites being a win at a different competition being ‘revenge’ for a loss at another and this next one a huge Brit favourite, getting [idealy] a win in Olympic/worlds/comm’s/euros within the same competition [‘the full set’]cycle and for her that won’t disappear with compression of these various champs due to the cancellations/delays,of course she’s not going to walk away from it all even this year certainly by Paris she would be recognised on the street by a goodly chunk of the public, having watched the heats etc for her event yeah she should win and hope she does ,the other competitors seem to be racing purely to position themselves for the bunch race behind her,all credit if someone try’s to take a flyer in the first lap,in her race this morning it looked like an athlete pushed hard to get just in front of her on the rail then eased off, rightly thinking she had one lane and K the other albeit further ahead
KH is a wonderful runner and seems like a lovely, gracious person. She’s dealing with a tough schedule and she always shows up to race. There’s clearly mutual respect between her and Mu and they’re both made better by the competition and both always compete hard. There’s nothing to dislike about Keely.
It’s too bad some segment of her fans tries their hardest to be as unlikeable as possible, calling her opposition men, making up false accusations of cheating and cutting off, clearly cheering for Hodgkinson for ideological reasons, etc. How about you just let a great runner run and stop trying to make her toxic?
Too many high pressure championship meets/races in too short a time span. Not to mention all the travel, wear and tear, etc. Yes, others have done all three meets and made it work, but everyone is different and handles physical and mental stress differently. There's a decent case to be made to pick two out of the three and let the chips fall where they may.
But 100% agree that she's great for the sport and has earned a big medal. Hope she gets it!
I can’t care less if she stays in the sport or not. If she goes, someone else talented will take her place. She’s “good for the sport” why? Coz she’s an above-average-cute white girl who happens to be near the top of her sport?
As for the racist trope, I think we would be naive not to acknowledge it that it exists, and *not* to apologize for it or excuse it. People like to watch whom they like to watch and can identify with. I believe it was non other than Carl Lewis who said, as the sport was dipping into irrelevance, that what it needed was a superstar miler, like the second coming of Jim Ryun to revitalize the sport. By this he most certainly implied, a *white* star. Well, now we have such people like Keely, Bol, Warholm, Deplantis, Jakob, Steiner, Prandini and a ton of MD guys and gals. (Sadly, the throws and jumps won't garner much attention these days.) I would love to think that we can all root for the home team, regardless of ethnicity, but for most the "home" team is an ethnic one that they can identify with ... and want to watch in person and on TV. It's nature. (The NFL may follow a similar track. The NBA may be an aberration, but I’m sure about that.)
She’s essentially Paul tergat. She’ll have a fine career but just happened to be around during A goats reign
I'd bet my house on Hodgkinson winning a global gold in her career. Even Rudisha got Amos-ed.
I mean, given her age it's conceivable that KH might actually evolve into a faster/better racer than Mu.
Perhaps she can and does get a WC or Oly gold in the future. She certainly has the talent for it.
But no way is she more talented than Mu who is a generational talent. Mu was nowhere near her form from 2021 while Hodgkkinson was at her very best form this year and had run more 800s this season than Mu who only raced 8s to qualify at USs and the heats @ WCs. Mu is simply faster which is not going to change through training.
If Mu gets back on form, she can get Kratochvílová's WR while Hodgkkinson will probably top out at 1:55.xx...Both being the top clean and proper gender marks.

Nah, track is just boring for most people.
Cristiano Ronaldo and Messi are huge in Africa, India and the rest of Asia. And guess what? They're not even close to being black or asian.
People couldn't care less about color when it's about sports.
