Have you not discerned that winning Championships is top-of-mind for Jakob?
The poster said what he would do, not what he thinks Jakob will do. Obviously Ingebrigtsen is going to run Euros but I’d just as soon see him skip and go for some time trials. He could target 7:25 in Monaco and 3:27 in Lausanne, then just run for the win in Zurich.
Yeah. Monaco always has a blazing fast 1500. I'd love to see him pop one there.
There is no Men's 1500m at Monaco this year
That's actually quite shocking. What possible reasoning could there be for this? (Regardless of Jakob's participation or not.) Monaco is known for the men's 1500m.

If his brothers also make the final he might be able to do both is they sacrifice themselves for his chance to get a WR. Henrik paces the first lap. Filip paces the second. He runs solo the rest of the way. 3.24.77. You heard it first here! :-)

Think. They are running a 1k. It would be silly to also have a 1500.

Well, I'm thinking that 1000m instead of 1500m is a shame. Monaco is primarily renowned for the M1500m. (How many people in this and other threads are surprised that there is no 1500m this year?) Why fix something that isn't broken?
Do you think he'll give the 5k WR a shot any time soon?
A runner of Yakob's caliber cant hope to get near 12:40 let alone break it. It takes more like a Cheptegei or a Kiplimo level talent to get close to or break records.
Strongly disagree. Are you aware Cheptegei's best 1500m is only 3:37? Also to note, he ran this not long after he set the 5000m world record of 12:35

There was a thread on this just a day or so ago. The consensus there is that the organizers realized that between Worlds, Euros and the Commonwealth Games, (and the scrambling of the DL schedule) they needed something extra-special to attract a good field this year. Hence the unusual distances.
In other words, they are fixing something that is broke. It was so broke they decided to skip the 1500 and run a 1000 instead.
PS On the women's side, it's closer to "business as usual." There's an 800, 1500 and SC. (The 800 isn't a DL event.)
Why would holding a 1K attract the big names more than a 1500M? Are you saying that Korir, Burgin, Wightman, Jakob etc are all going to be running the 1K, but would have skipped a 1500m or 800m?
Would be fun to see Jakob in the 1K though. People here write off his 800m ability, but I wonder what he could do over 1K? I assume though he will be running the 3000m.
