And now for some treason I don't know why, but I just can't help but mention how stunning and brave she is! Did you know she's a mom!! So GREAT!!!
the only thing more tired and played out than the media constantly referencing her motherhood is people making lame jokes about it.
Brighten up there Buttercup! I like Allyson Felix, I have no issues with her. I don't think most people do either, I think some are annoyed by the style of coverage though. But me, I'm just memeing for fun! You should try participating in celebrating her, maybe you'll enjoy yourself!
in many ways, she is what we always ask for out of our star sprinters. master one event, plateau or slide a bit, and move up to the next distance.
we all want to see bolt, lyles, knighton, and every other great 100/200 runner try a 400. She did it.
But she has been surrounded by an AWKWARD hype train for a few years now. She is an awesome athlete, but our media picks the weirdest things to fawn and FUSS over.
The american crowd on letsrun is so weird. They hate an athlete that has 5 individual olympic medals and 7 WC medals but drool over any 17 year old that hasn't raced outside their own state with their 4:10 mile. Why potential (even though very little chance of succes) is valued so much over proven success and medals is beyond me. It seems like the best thing an american athlete can do for its public image here on letsrun is to dodge competition (see f.ex Hocker) than to win medals (Felix and Mclaughlin). There is also some other traits that seperates those two, I'll leave those up to the reader.
Why leave it up to the reader, you've spelled it out yourself. And it's quite stupid, the narrative you're pushing. Allyson and Sydney are universally celebrated and praised. So is Ajee, Athing, Gabby, Keni, Rai, Trayvon, Noah, Erriyon, etc. But God forbid people praise Cole or Matt. And Heaven forbid Jenna take a spot on the 4x1. Don't even get me started on Karsten, who is outside of Usain one of the most entertaining sprinters we've ever seen. But instead of being celebrated and appreciating him for the once in a lifetime spectacle that he is, there is nonstop hate for the guy while Usain was loved worldwide. So tell me, who's really worried about skin color?
Check out any thread with Felix in here, you won't find the same hate against Teare or Hocker who got 0 medals. Imagine if Hocker was a 5 time Olympian with 5 medals to his name.

I agree that Warholm is a great athlete btw 😊
the felix hate is not really felix hate. it is felix hype train fatigue.
Wasn't this her last championship? As I said, somehow success leads to hate, much better with Mac Hilbilly that was first in his mountain town high school meet, he will for sure medal in 2028. So tiring with that Felix that just keeps on participating and winning medals in championships. GO AWAY ALREADY! Lets cross our fingers that you aren't burdened with a new athlete that wins olympic medals over so many years.
Wow. I thought cutting down tall poppies was just an Australian thing. You guys are nuts. If she was Australian, she’d be the most famous person in the country. You guys should be proud that she has represented your country with excellence and class for so long.

You must have missed the 600 different threads that popped up about how Hocker and Teare were devastated and headed back home after their respective recent 1st round flame outs.
Meanwhile, all Felix gets is a bunch of "did you know she's a mom?" jokes, which is more poking fun at NBC than anything. Nobody is claiming she's unsuccessful, she obviously is. Whether that success matches the level of NBC hype is another question altogether, and a legitimate one IMO.
The 100/200 double first unless me. When I see an athlete double in the 100m and marathon and take cold in both at the same Olympics or WC I'll be impressed. Running 2 events so similar just isn't impressive.
