Lol I stated that I misspoke, calm down. Nevertheless, my question is still the same. Who do you run, besides Wadeline, without compromising that runner's performance in their individual race and potentially women's 4x400 final
You can't replace runners. So those who run in the semis have to run in the finals. So because Simon ran in the semis, no one could have replaced her in the final.
Felix only ran in the final. Bol only ran in the final. They both replaced other runners from the semis.
Under the new rule, only one person from the prelims can be replaced.
The A squad is not running, it is not surprised they lost.

I guess due to her age/deference to her Felix is the one who came in…But if purely trying to win having her jog a 51 in the morning and having Steiner come in for Simon and win an easy gold medal would’ve been the move. 2 full days off until the 200.

You can replace one runner. Femke Bol did not run in the semis and was fresh for the finals.
The US wasted their rested runner on Felix when it should've been one of the runners with individuals later in the week who's capable of bringing an X factor split like Bol (See Steiner, McLaughlin, Mu, etc).

You make Felix run the prelim and the final because it's her only event. Then you put in Mu or Syd or Diggs in fresh for the final. They get the baton with a 20 meter lead and they can jog to an easy gold medal.
McLaughlin, Mu, Steiner, Wilson, and Diggs are probably the top 400m women in the US right now, and one of them definitely isn't going to be on that 4x400m final. My guess is Mu will be off since the 4x400m final is around an hour after the 800m final. So then put Mu on the mixed relay.
Syd is Allyson’s training partner right? Probably should’ve called in a favor on that one. Syd can jog a 49-high 400 and the a 55-second prelim 400H heat without breaking a sweat.
Interesting that on the Track & Field News forum this morning for this mixed 4 x 400 relay, all 5 posters agreed that a USA gold would be the lock of this meet.
US women got smoked by Dominican Republic in the final, giving up over 2.5 seconds the US men had gained.
But who else could have been on that team? Is it fair to let potentially faster runners be on the team when they did not compete in the open 400 at the trials?
For some of the runners on other teams, the mixed 4x400 is likely their only chance for a gold medal for themselves and their country, And that may include Bol also.
Since this relay happens on the first day of the meet, there is no guarantee that any of those potentially faster US runners would want to be on the team, even if asked. This is unlike the 4x400, where everyone would say yes since its the last event.

Syd would have 4 days to recover before the heats of the 400h heats. Mu would have 6 days to recover before the heats of the 800.
It's pathetic. Shame on those athletes if they are backing out, but I have a feeling it's USATF calling the shots.

You're making a major assumption that the athletes in individual events would want to run a relay prior.

??? Femke Bol skipped the heats but ran the final, as did a few others.
