Hey, thank you for your reply. It's so important to get other people's perspective, especially those who were training in the same group and had a better understanding of the full story and context. #Istandwithgrigg

It's awfully unfortunate that she committed suicide. But it could very well be unfair that an article was written to attack and blame a person for her death. She very likely was predisposed to suicidal ideation regardless of whether she ever met this coach. Of course the person who writes the article never has any blame or accountability and people are free to judge or over react based on one measly piece. Pretty coincidental that she commits suicide shortly after an article is written about her. Easy to blame the coach as they typically are impressionable towards young women, but her problems likely went beyond one relationship, unfortunately. Suicide is a complex thing. The sad part is that someone has lost a life and a writer has created unnecessary emotional distress for others with repercussion, as usual.
Without repercussion* for the writer of the article.

I am grateful to my core to have met so many passionate, dedicated, fearless, and talented people, all because of this newsroom.
But the time has come to give people a voice my way.
I would agree that suicide is more complex. The blame is not entirely on Grigg but also JU staff. The situation should have been handled better. There are most definitely people who you will find on a team who give trouble and deserve to be sat and talked to. But what the girls report seem to be similar. Grigg is capable of getting away with more than you think. I highly doubt the girls would do the most to ruin his life and lie about emotional abuse or sexual harassment. I think they’re just trying to get justice.

Just remember, justice is in the eye of the beholder. To destroy people for things they allegedly said, is extremely subjective.
