If this is how he honestly trains, then wouldn't Ole Miss be the wrong program for him? They're much more middle-distance/distance heavy and their guys are running more in the 50-70 MPW. I feel like Texas, TA&M or UTEP would be the more logical choice.
Once again letsrun finds out a phenom does astonishingly well on low mileage and jumps straight to “what could they do with more mileage?!” instead of accepting that maybe low mileage is the answer for those who are extremely talented.

He seems to have strong opinions about his training and the Ole Miss coach will be very flexible. If the coach told him he needed to run 50-70 MPW, it’s likely Flatt would have gone somewhere else.
Why would any blue chip HS runner want to attend U.T.E.P.?
Cade is the DEFINITION of Sham Army! 6'2", 155 lbs of pure muscle, no easy miles, no JUNK miles, and all of the confidence in the world! He is exactly the kind of athlete I have been warning yall about this whole time! Everybody is going to wish they took the Sham path as this young man did. Instead, many are wasting their lives as twig slaves in Hokas, running more miles than they even drive! Remember when I said running above 7 minute pace was a waste of time? This dude never runs above 5K pace and is nae naeing all the records! It's time for you soy boys to do some self reflection.
It’s not that he’s talented, it’s that he’s fast. Athletes with high fast twitch muscle fiber compositions need to train those fibers differently than slow twitch athletes train theirs. This means lots of high quality work, which makes the mileage number lower

Sham, you don't seem to know what "junk miles" actually are.
Also, he’s not solidly 2 years older than most hs seniors. At most it’s a year for a normal kid. Not a done deal either way.
I didn't turn 18 until late October AFTER I graduated from HS.
Nobody cares about your anecdote bud. What’s important is the average highschool senior. As another poster pointed out, Cade is around 6 months older than the average high school senior. Some of his competition will be about 6 months younger than average. That’s how high school classes work- there’s a range of about a year. He’s not a “college frosh” or cheating the system.

So...you "need" low mileage if you are talented? Weird logic. Maybe less mileage sure, but going from low to moderate would physiologically be very likely to give him some gains. You just cant deny physiology. High mileage? I dont know, maybe diminishing returns and injury, but dont tell me 20MPW is the same as 40 or 50. He would be better with more development.
he is 1.5 older than some. half older than others. probably 10-12 months older than his senior competition on average
I'm curious about your math. Doesn't Cade turn 19 in July? If he's 1.5 years older than others, are you telling me there are seniors who turn 17 in February of their senior year?
10-12 months older than his senior competition on average? Are you telling me that most seniors turn 18 in May-July?
And since it's an in-service day with nothing to do, I'll see how much older Cade would be than our varsity xc boys if they were seniors.
