Flatt and Martin are front runners that will run perfect paces for Colin and Lex. Colin is in over his head in the 800m and will probably run too fast for the first lap. To get a fast time, Lex needs to run an even pace which is more complicated in a race where he’s not competitive.
I guess you haven’t watched any of their races, because if you had you wouldn’t have posted what you wrote.
Martin’s sub-4:00 splits were 59.67, 58.799, 59.887, 59.627. Lex will not find such perfection in an open race.
As for Colin, I don’t know why Brosnan wants the fastest HS XC runner in the country to do an 8OOm. LV’s record is the big prize within his grasp.
1500- Hocker, Mo Ahmed, Hunter, Kessler, Lex Young
Speaking of interesting names, I didn't realize Lex's full name is Alexio.
Also, looks like Teare is doing the 800/5k double. He's definitely a league above everyone in the 5k, so if the 800 is first, it'll be cool to see how he fairs.
Alexio is actually the fusion form of Lex and Leo.

Because Colin ran a 1:48 wire to wire 800m. Why not develop his speed more. Especially 10 days out from the Bowerman Mile. This seems lime a smart move to me.

800 is before the 5k. But it's possible he ends up only running one event. We'll have to wait and see.
I would be pretty surprised if he did an 800/5,000 double a week out from the Bowerman mile. Guessing he does the 800 and then paces the 5,000 if anything.
And running a 5k one week before his big mile race at Prefontaine wouldn't be smart.
Do you know very little about the sport of track and field? Or do you just enjoy posting strange things that make no sense?
Colin is not an 800m specialist and running the 1500m twice is not unheard of. Improving his 1500m PR is more significant than taking a second of his 800m time. Running a 5000m would have no impact on a race over a week later.
Running a hard 5,000 could definitely have an impact on a race a week later. Particularly for a HS kid who is not used to the distance (on the track).
Maybe, but the rule of thumb is one day of recovery per mile of racing. The 5000m is a very good distance for Colin and maybe he could challenge Rupp’s record. Are they planning on him running one after Pre?

With his focus on 800/Mile lately, im guessing that ship has sailed. Training is probably geared towards the shorter races at this point.

Agreed. It very difficult to go after a 13:30's for a HS athlete. Especially right before the Bowerman Mile. I don't know for fact, but would think they are getting ready for his Mile and getting very specific.
