Who cares what some backwater judge thinks? Why do Dems and Reps have to bicker and whine about every fukking detail of policy. Masks, no masks. Does it really matter? Is there not one single piece of common ground for all Americans?
I haven't read the decision, but there is no way, under our Constitutional system of law, that a federal district court judge can enjoin anyone out of his or her jurisdiction, which is limited to the federal district they are in.
My presumption is most people will still wear a mask voluntarily on planes. We’ve known for decades flying on a plane gets you sick at a higher rate than other places (colds and flus). But my opinion is masks and vaccines should have been voluntary from the first day. If you want to wear a mask, that’s respectable. If not, equally respectable. Same for vaccines. People need to stop caring what others do.
This x1000. Why can't there be more people like this poster? Calm, sensible, polite. Any chance you can go into teaching or politics and encourage others to be like this?

Because the bosses are vilifying those who won't go along with mandates
I'll probably continue to wear a mask on planes. I can remember at least 3 times getting sick shortly after flying.
Plus, I always seem to be seated near someone who has excessively bad breath. I'm always amazed at the people who will eat a garlic & onion sandwich before getting on a plane. The mask helps keep their stink out of my nose.
What does this mean for international travel? Just wish they’d dump the required PCR now to get back into the Us
+100. This a real pain for international travelers, and it only applies to flights vs. ground border crossings. Every variant has made its way to the U.S. in short order, so these impositions have done little to nothing to stop the spread.
I'm currently onboard an Alaska flight heading back to Seattle from Philadelphia. It is a strange day, indeed. Masks are now a voluntary choice. Traveling through the pandemic, the "freedom warriors" who decided to stretch the limits of the mask mandates were very obnoxious. But nothing compares to the infuriating squeals from screaming babies. They are the worst.

If masks aren’t required anywhere else, why should they be on planes?
“In simple terms, the air you breathe on a plane is almost certainly cleaner than the stuff you’d be breathing indoors on land. It may not be as pure as getting out to nature, but it’s better than the air you breathe in coffee shops, movie theaters or grocery stores. This is as a result of the efficient air circulation systems and HEPA filters that are found on the majority of modern commercial flights. According to National Geographic, 40% of the cabin’s air is recycled through this system while 60% is taken from outside. On most planes, the air in the cabin is completely replaced every three minutes.”

You don't need a PCR to get back into the US. A rapid antigen is good enough. I've done it a half dozen times in the last six months. Yes, it's a bit of a pain, but foreign countries (particularly those in Europe) have far better/easier testing. My last trip a few weeks ago, I walked into a random pharmacy in Naples Italy and had a test done and paid for in 15 minutes for 15 euro. Paper result and a text with QR code almost immediately. No problem.
This is great, I’m literally about to board a plane! Still expecting the flight attendants to give me crap but I’ll have the article at hand. Freedom from this idiocy!!!
Yeah right. 37K positive cases yesterday in America. My I remind you that a million Americans died from Covid19. If you are not vaccinated......good luck. 1 million dead Americans and the new strain will spread again like wildfire. Lets hope more will not die. More likely more will, Americans are dumb as hell. Once the new strain hits us and it will, we are so dumb, we will not mask up or social distance and 35% of us haven't been vaccinated. How many more have to get sick and die before you vaccinate.

That is true, but when an unmasked infected person is next to you in line or next to you on the plane, that is when you get infected. Make everyone get vaccinated before flying, or in any crowed indoor space.
At this point if you aren't vaccinated, you are a complete idiot. If you catch covid19 and die, that's what you get for being an idiot.
