He's a great appointment. Someone who will put athletes first and understands athletics. It's extremely telling that own of his first moves has been to appoint a head of endurance (Steve Vernon), something his predecessor couldn't be bothered to do. I don't know how long it will take to improve results, but he has a talent pool to build on and the starting point has to be professional processes. Ensuring the security of grass roots talent development would be good, too, such as investing in the schools national athletics championship which has been under threat
