Maybe from about the age of about 14-21 a fit guy with a shirt off might be considered attractive to a female. But if you don't fall into that category put your damn shirt on when you run. Nobody wants to see your gut hanging out, man boobs and hair like you are chewbacca. It is a freeking eyesore and you look like a goof. Think about other people that have to look at you instead of your own selfishness.

This such utter BS. I grew up (and ran) in the 70s and 80s. Men going shirtless, in pretty much any warm weather situation, was a COMPLETE non-issue. This probably extended until at least the 90s. Somehow, in the last few decades younger people (apparently, mostly?) have decided that there is something wrong with it.
And the lack of consistency is ridiculous, too. Somehow, no one dies when they see lots of men at a beach (or pool) without their shirts on. But leave those environments, and suddenly it's so troubling/annoying.
Just STFU.
What changed is that people got fat as phuck. Almost every male past the age of 21 is fat, no one wants to see other peoples fat rolls and beer guts (a reflection of themselves).

I don't know what people think when I'm running because I don't stop and talk to everyone but I have found that generally when I wear less, women are nicer to me. Like when I wear a tank, shorts and flip flops around town. I might have a random woman or two say hi to me, and women I'd service jobs might be a little more chatty.
I think the shirt fully off might be too much for some people. It also depends on what is normal for you. There is a chubby guy I see regularly who pretty much never has his shirt on and nobody say much or notices because he never has a shirt on.
Puritanical views aside, this drives me nuts as a coach. The temps get slightly over 50 degrees and the high school boys have to run or workout without shirts because "It's warm!". Flash forward a month or two and we have our first meet in 70 degree conditions and they universally underperform because the singlets and the weather made them "too hot".
The girls are much smarter. They wear layers and the older girls police the younger ones by preaching about keeping layers on to acclimatize. They always run better in the heat.
Do the boys ever learn? No. If I mandate layers, then I have to deal with parent complaints that I am a dangerous coach. I give my appropriate clothing speech at the beginning of the season and then never mention it again. If some boy gets sick or injured from poor personal choices, that is on them.
The higher the temperature, the more forgiving I will be of shirtless behavior. If it's sunny and over 80-85 degrees, I couldn't care less how gross you look. I do think some guys who use the first warm day of the year as an excuse to lose the shirt are annoying.
It's 62 degrees and a yell at this disgusting guy. What are you going to do when it gets hot, take your skin off. A loose fitting shirt will actually keep you cooler in the hot humidity. Nothing grosser than fat sweat 💦.
I was with some Australians at a wet Tshirt contest. They didn't see the point in it since many women are topless at the beach. Laughing at " No skin, No win"
It's really a personal decision. I'm 63 and a 35 year old woman I was dating said that if I wanted to run without a shirt it would be fine.
My feeling is when an older man runs shirtless there are two responses:
1. Ewwwww, old man, put your shirt on.
2. Look at that old man showing off that he can go shirtless and not gross people out.
So, I wear a shirt, my choice.
At 61, I would probably need a sports bra to run shirtless these days. 🤣 Now if I was jacked like Scooby 1961, I would definitely go shirtless - not just for running but driving around in my convertible, doing yard work, going hiking, etc.
I understand where ye come from. It like is uncomfortable for some peeps and children. I sometimes run without a shirt and I see some people look. Of course it’ll happen but eh. When do you think it comes across as insensitive?
If it's above 75, I never wear a shirt. 56 yes old, no man boobs, no rolls and yes, you do get attention, most of it is complimentary. Anyone should be allowed to run as they feel comfortable, regardless of size.

Even if it was just the weight thing, who cares? Oh look, a fat guy is running - or mowing his lawn - without a shirt? Who cares?
But it's not just a weight thing. Many Americans have for SOME strange reason come to believe that no men should have their shirts off unless they're swimming. Just so dumb....and when people visibly complain about it, annoying.

I'm not eager to question your experience as a coach, but.....putting on a singlet causing under-performance? That's either a lame excuse from a runner or a faulty observation from someone other than the runner.
No. I don’t care at all what you or anybody else thinks. Fat women of all ages wear the most disgusting tight outfits often with their belly showing to malls, dining establishments, schools etc. Why should I care what someone thinks when I have to see that trash wherever I go?
I don't know what you look like but you certainly qualify as misogynistic trash.
I don’t think you know what misogyny is. Misogyny is having prejudice towards all women. Essentially it’s believing women are lower status and inferior to men. He hates that fat women get to wear bikinis and it’s nearly illegal to point out how that’s disgusting because far left psychos incorrectly label people misogynistic if they do. But then it’s deemed ok to insult and restrict men about their appearance. I understand the media incorrectly uses terms such as racism and misogyny for everything that isn’t remotely racist or misogynistic so you’re confused. The fact is it’s not misogynistic to hate fat women and love fit women. See what I mean? You have to hate all women to be a misogynist. You can’t hate a few women’s appearance and be a misogynist. You’ll learn over time. It’s tough in today’s sensationalistic media environment.

Just in case it isn't clear to everyone, at least 90% of people who make a stupid comment to/about a man (perhaps particularly a running man) not having a shirt on would make it regardless of his apparent fitness.
