Last lap is great as others have mentioned, first the move on GDS and then the move on Taye. But actually watching the whole race I'm pretty amazed, there were several times where she is physical AF. New fan.
Nothing racist about this. The Ethiopians are great runners and harder to beat when there is a group of them. So for PSP to do what she did was a great run. The same would have been true for a runner from Eldoret instead of Vermont.
THIS was the Elle I was all stoked to see at the Olympics...so glad for her that she is back on track and running like this. Great job, Elle! Outdoor season will be very interesting!

This is the nature of mid-d, and to a slightly lesser extent, long-d racing at the top level. It's physical and often a little dirty. Even the top people get involved, just look at Jakob. That's why pros need to get on the circuit if they want medals.
She ran those Ethiopians into the ground! USA! USA!
she got second.
Idk. I'm just not crazy about Elle.....maybe others feel the same and that's why there's no Elle MF PSP thread...
Elle had poor sportsmanship. She didn't congratulate her friend Heather for winning, she acted like the mile was HER race and she lost it, not a fair race that Heather won. It's one thing to be disappointed in the moment, but even afterwards she never really congratulated Heather. Just makes me feel like it's all about her...
and then there's........the other thing....
I know this is not fair. I know that she didn't do anything to warrant this...but after Shelby was popped, I became more cynical of US distance running, and if I had an inkling of suspicion, I suspected. Elle had a rapid improvement that seemingly came from no where, a lot like the way Shelby did. So when she does really well, like at World Indoors, I just don't feel super excited about it. It's sad, but she's just not someone I root for anymore. And again, there's no cloud, but when I see a runner progress out of no where, I'm going to be less interested in them.
idk. her progression does not look that suspicious to me.
really, it is difficult not to suspect every world level runner. i just don't see how her progression stands out as abnormal.
you know what, she is older than i thought. maybe going from 4:14 to 4:02 between 22 and 24 is a but suspicious, though I have no idea how her training changed from college to pros, along with health.
NB Boston (and especially Purrier) desperately need a PR trainer. Her post-race mixed zone interview was awkward and defensive, USAs was a disaster and has festered since. NB should step in and protect their brand.

Sour grapes much? Progress out of nowhere? Are you kidding? Norris is more sus than Elle in that respect for sure

Video 10:28 (race 8:30), Taye is gaining on Purrier and just when Taye gets to Purrier's shoulder, Purrier quickly moves out from line 1 into lane 2. Taye swerves to avoid collision. And we can see from Purrier's constant position relative to Hailu, that Purrier was not speeding up. But Taye had to slow down because Purrier changed lanes when she didn't have space. No contact, but that was only because Taye gave way. DQ worthy?
