It has been interesting to see how the consensus on these boards has pivoted as more data has come in.
There is no consensus and no rational, objective analysis of this "data."
Psychologists call this the "frequency illusion." Once the idea went viral that "super shoes" exist, and every elite runner was wearing them, every new record or great performance causes a big splash and gets attention. This makes it seem to the hypnotized people that suddenly all the records are falling, when in reality the progression of new records is at about the same pace it's always been.
Add in things you're not paying attention to - such as the pre "super shoes" record progressions - and it will seem more normal. For some reason the shoes-believers think there was doping back then but not now. Naive.
Notice all the records still standing, like men's steeple. Nobody's even close. Hardly anyone can even crack 8 minutes. Where's the rush of sub 2:03 marathons? We've seen the last 2:01's for a long time.
Rupp's 10,000m AR was getting overdue to be broken. Of course someone will get triggered and start hating because denying it's the shoes somehow insults the athlete. Nope, Grant Fisher really is better than Rupp by 11 seconds, how is that so hard to believe?
