And it never occured to you, that Tefera could have peaked for that one indoor race? Maybe he was in 3:27 outdoors shape at the time
Tefera was never in 3:27 shape. He has a lifetime best of 3:30 so he is a 3:30 guy and that reflects poorly on the quality of that indoor record. It's a JV record. I dont doubt Cole Hocker could have beaten that record.
How do you know Tefera was not in 3:27 shape at the time? It has been already pointed out to you, that several elite runners have their PRs from an indoor season. Could be because of many factors like injuries, wrong planning, financial incentives, mental state, luck, etc... Once again, Ethiopians are most unconsistant runners and their shape is hardly predictable.
Also I can bet a house that Cole Hocker will NEVER touch 3:30 indoors. That's a 3:47 mile shape at least and Hocker ran 3:50 two seasons in a row.
Kipsang ran 3:36 only 6 days ago but you you think he could have challenged Jakob yesterday?
I think Kipsang´s recent 1500m and 2000m performances show he is far from last year´s level.
have you ever heard of tactical races
Of course I have heard of tactical races. BUT YESTEREDAY´S 2000M WAS NOT TACTICAL.
Kipsang followed the pacemakers and then tried to run it home alone dying completely in the process. Very opposite Jakob´s 4:50 2000m some years ago where he ran a 54 last lap.
I haven´t seen the 1500m from Metz where Kipsang 6 days ago ran 3:36 but I suppose it was run with pacemaker(s) as normally in not championships. So probably more a time trial than a tactical race.
The BU 5000 was thrilling, the JI record was a snooze fest, but the real excitement will only come when Fisher and Ahmed and JI and the Africans square off against each other in a 5000 that matters, hopefully in Eugene this summer. Until then, this is all window dressing.

Because he ran a 3:31 and has a lifetime best of 3:30 outdoors.
Yakob is like 11-0 against Tefera. You're stupid if you think Tefera was a 3:27 guy for this ONE race. The burden of proof falls on you since your claim is ridiculously outlandish and speculative while mine is based on the data we have.
And Hocker running 3:30 indoors is more likely than Yakob running 3:25, yet you and others wont stop yapping about how that's bound to happen soon. Tefera ran 3:31 indoors with a pb of 3:31 outdoors. Who's to say Hocker can't go half a second faster?
Just based on times, predictability, and their previous performances, Grant Fisher was definitely a surprise which created a more exciting race. However, Jakob's world record is also an insanely impressive time for an indoor 1500m.
Opinion: Jakob would've ran sub-3:30 if his race was on the BU indoor track like it was to Grant Fisher's.
If Jakob had run a sub-3:30 I would have found it more exciting than Fisher's 12:53, but since he didn't I give the nod to Fisher's run
