That said Eminem is gross.
That said Eminem is gross.
I liked seeing Dr. Dre and Snoop Dog. I was not into the rest of it.
It was tied with Bruno Mars for the worst halftime show ever. The original songs sucked and these versions were 10x worse. Some people I was watching with were excited for it but then even admitted that it was bad.
It was entertaining, that’s my only criteria. I didn’t know the songs or the lyrics, but they were having fun and I appreciated that.
It wasn’t Maroon 5 or the Weekday, so that was good.
I don't listen to rap music, but that song at the end (with Snoop Dogg and that other guy) was good.
The aerial image of South Central projected on the floor was simply perfect for the occasion. The performances themselves were so-so. Rap is very difficult to pull off live. But how did they go up and down the stairs so many times without losing their breath?
I'm very old and have come to accept the fact that what I think doesn't matter in society anymore, but thanks for asking. I do believe Mary J Blige is a very good singer.
Oh....I missed it. Thank goodness I was busy doing important stuff like taking a s%^&
I didn't- pretty much what you said. I wish they would scrap this and just have a regular length halftime with a local high school or college band.
But, of course, they would lose many, many viewers.
Wasn’t a fan even tho this was mostly my era of artists. Is there no one a little younger they can get? Lol
Overall, no. Not really a fan of rap and/or hip hop. For the most part, I don't consider it "music". It's poetry put to a beat, and if you don't know the words (and I sure didn't), a lot is lost.
Parts I liked included the little bit of piano that went on and then Mary J. Blige singing (I consider what she did to be singing). Man, her thighs are HUGE.
Two hip hop groups I AM a fan of though are Run D.M.C. (no longer together for obvious reasons) and Cypress Hill. Other than those two, nothing else yet.
As a 54 year old, these were some of the prime rappers of my early 20's, those guys are all around my age so it was very nostalgic.
Personally I thought it was fine, but it just looked like most all SB halftime shows, big stage lots of dancers, blah blah blah.. pretty standard issue stuff.
My personal favorite halftime was J. Lo and Shakira. That was entertaining.
Yeah, when they trot out these acts that peaked 20-30 years ago, you never seem to get much energy. Just going through the motions and playing the old standbys. It's like watching the Beach Boys.
Shakira really gave a great performance, had the energy of someone who was still performing with regularity.
I can listen to some rap but I much prefer the rap rock from a band like the Red Hot Chili Peppers of Rage Against the Machine. Eminem has a few songs that are OK. Overall the show wasn't great but the best part of the show was Eminem kneeling in support of Colin Kapernick.
Dre & Snoop — these guys were the highlight. Should have limited to them, and added some songs from The Chronic
50 — who decided to add a sixth headliner to this? I liked the dance routine, but this should have been cut
MJB — I like her, but thought Family Affair was really flat. Again, could have done without this
Kendrick — I might just be too old to appreciate him, but it did nothing for me
Eminem — seemed to underperform. Should have done more Forgot about Dre, and gotten more out of Dre
On balance, it was a success, but they tried to make it too expansive. Snoop was the best performer on stage, and Dre was surprisingly strong. Again, these halftime shows need to tighten up, so we can get back to the game
I thought it was one of the more enjoyable halftime acts in a while. The NFL is dumb to not have more hip hop performances. The halftime show is rarely ever “family-oriented” (worst was KISS in 1999). The pop performances even this past decade were getting pretty lame.
Snoop dawg rules.
Prince was the best half time show, then Up With People 2nd and 3rd.
Billie Eilish and Dua Lipa should have been there this year.
Sometimes it seems like Cooper Teare is not that good BUT…
