The losing coach should get fired.
This was also my immediate reaction, but you'd have to look at that coach's overall record. There are often enormous differences in the personnel you get at a high school in skill sports where early development opportunities make a big difference. The winning coach has the responsibility only to develop his team and prepare them for the playoffs. I would object only if they were trying to hurt the other team or the coach was accepting taunting. In high school soccer in Florida they have a mercy rule, where the game is ended when one team has an 8 goal lead, which happens a lot on the girls' side, because the teams are rarely evenly matched. Some teams will have little club or rec experience coming into high school while others will have played club and rec and middle school soccer starting early in elementary school. I do not favor the mercy rule. Kids aren't that fragile they will be destroyed by being crushed in a game. This losing team was relatively competitive in other games. Let them play as long as they're not getting hurt on every single play (which actually can happen to some degree in girls hs soccer).
