Actually we dinosaurs hate the fact that hitters of today can’t beat the shift by hitting where they ain’t. Besides, baseball today is walk, strikeout or homer. Hitting it in the field of play is so boomer

It just occurred to me. Is Warholm fatshaming superspikes? We need to get Safesport on this pronto.

Wavelights are for the viewers, not the athletes.
Yeah, it's a blast watching a pulses of light move around the track.
It sounds like you dont know what wavelights are for.
At least track is the same for all the competitors in the same meet. And it doesn't matter that much which track you train on. Although it likely does matter a little, an athlete could probably try a workout or two on the hi-tech track if he's going to participate in a meet like that to be ready.

I can't understand how Warholm can be on such a high horse. His spikes were designed with Mercedes AMG and don't exactly look run of the mill. Complete carbon fibre plate construction with a nice energy returning curve in it similar to the prosthetic blades.

Very nice. Each one of those shoes weighs 135 grams / 4.8 ounces.
You move your body on your own for 12 and a half laps in 12:35. Nobody can take that away from you. 12:35 is 12:35.
With Dragonfly's my running technique is improved, so they improve my endurance.
Nothing with with shoes, that makes Your stride more natural

My old Nike Victories were 120g. I am willing to bet that Warholm wouldn't run 45.9 in those.

Alright everyone, looks like it is time to disqualify any performance from an athlete competing on a MONDO-surfaced track until all participating in the sport have the same level of access to technologically-advanced facilities. All sprinting records that didn't involve digging holes in the ground with a trowel beforehand should be eliminated, in fact. The technology is going to continue advancing. The general genetic ability of athletes has not and will never advance at the same rate, because we are not evolving as a species to be more athletic. World records in often-contested events (especially those set with the help of PEDs, whichever those are, maybe all) will not continue to be set at an exceptional rate without technology. Only people stuck in the past resent the idea of new world records.
Putting springs in shoes isn't "running" it's "bouncing"
It turns it into a different sport entirely.
Why do we want world records to be set at an exceptional rate? In fact, they SHOULDN'T be.
400 hurdles is the only event from 800 down that had really impressive times. do the boing boing spikes do more for long hurdles than any other event?

FYI the carbon fiber plates don't make athletes faster, according to studies. It is the superfoam which is responsible. So this talk of springs and similarities to 'blade runner' prosthetics is not great.

Nobody has done studies on these carbon spikes. Look at them. Completely different to the plate in a Vaporfly or Dragonfly.
The entire sole is made of one piece of carbon fibre. The curve in the middle emulates and follows the arch of his foot. Guess what the function of your arch is whilst running? Energy storage and release.
Warholm is really talking a lot of rubbish by claiming his spikes aren't technologically advanced and everyone else's are.

Wavelight should be eliminated as well.
i like wavelight. doesnt bother me if people want to categorize records into those run with it and those run without it. but the idea that innovation interferes with true sport is flawed. for example, if a person finds a smarter way to train and thereby gets better results people could complain by the same logic- it isnt fair that he trained smarter to get a faster time, you should only follow the plans used by the previous record holder. of course my argument falls apart since there are many kinds of technological innovation that i dont like. probably best to have a different high score list for each type of situation. a list for people in specific shoes. a list for people on specific surfaces, etc etc.
