Bit of a one-trick pony until he steps beyond his two solid 2019 races.
Came here to say this.
When stakes were highest, more often than not he underperformed with Hudson. He saw improvement in one race with Ritz and soon after was on the chronic injury cycle. Which is why the choice of Ritz was questionable in hindsight or even from the jump, despite Ritz's performance pedigree putting blinders on most who visit this board. If Stinson were a 5000-10,000 guy still then it would start to make more sense. As a marathoner, Stinson ran himself into the ground with Hudson and then the same happened with Ritz. 25K AR is nice and apparently it's keeping him on the Saucony teat along with Chicago 2019. He could've gone to Jones and had training partners and probably been just as good. I don't see Jones or Troop being interested in a project like Stinson at this point, not given the type of lifestyle and character everyone got a peek at when his marriage fell apart. Bosshard seems a better fit personalitywise, but there's no training partners there. Droddy seems to be a big fan for some reason so maybe he can boost Stinson into Roots membership, but I don't think that coach wants a replay of the Matt Fox predator situation. Honestly, the best thing for him might be heading to Flagstaff. A change of scenery could help and there doesn't seem to be anything tying him to Boulder. He could link up with Hall/Linkletter or Fauble or McKirdy Trained. Maybe find a new batch of college girls to chase around at local watering holes.
McKirdy. 😂

You managed to read an entire paragraph and miss wildly on tone, somehow. It's okay, if you're having a tough day just take a few deep breaths.
Parker suffers from IRS. Insecure Runners Syndrome. Trains way too hard. Not to much mileage but too much intensity. He needs Jacobs approach.
He left because Ritz is unable to coach runners sponsored by brands other than On and he's with Saucony through 2024

You kind of saw that coming.

Maybe try the independent GOAT coach JS ? He is just magic!

That's what I figured happened.
Don't really care who his next coach is. Aren't most runners able to coach themselves by age 27?

When I read his post, I interpreted it more as a lack of training partners (lots of lonely runs in the marathon buildup) than a lack of time from Dathan.
And to the other poster talking smack about the 2:23, Stinson pretty clearly says he was injured at Boston, not overbaked.
This is BS. He's on video running 4:3x for the last mile of a 5 mile "tempo" less than 2 weeks out from Boston. He wasn't injured then and if he somehow got injured in the last ten days before a major marathon that's on him.

Dropping a 4:3x mile on a tempo run is not going to fry a 2:10 marathoner. Not saying you are not wrong that he burned out before the race, but that one workout shouldn't take the legs out of someone like that.

The 5 mile tempo plus 200s? That was 5 days out from the marathon. Not even Kipchoge is doing a workout that hard five days out

Ok, so this makes more sense. 5 days out...yea...not good. Two weeks out? Should be fine.
New Coach for Stinson? wrote:
Stinson has announced he's moving on from Ritz as he can't provide enough time to coach him alongside the OAC role.
Who do you think he's likely to be coached by moving forwards? Citius Mag says he's still with Saucony through 2024, so assuming he will stay in Boulder guessing it'll be Troop or Roots Running, unless he moves to a new location like Flagstaff and trys something more radical like Mike Smith or McKirdy who are unaffiliated to any sponsors?
I still think he was at his best when coached by Hudson, but just couldn't control the level of intensity he was applying so didn't quite have the home run race his training indicated he should have had.
A lot of hoopla about a guy who is an average "National Class" runner. Has never won a USA title, PB's are ok with exception of the marathon. He's drinking his own Kool-Aid of how tough he is and how pain is his friend...blah...blah...blah. Now he's coach hopping and blaming Ritz for not sucking him off enough and not running fast enough or winning. Anyone can "talk" about how they want to be an Olympian...blah...blah...blah. It's a whole different gig when it's time to put up...or shut up.
Message to Parker:
You need to put your "Big-Boy" shorts on now and start taking accountability for your failures and stop blaming others. Being a professional runner is a HUGE responsibility and self-investment. As the saying goes "A shi^^y craftsman can't blame the tools he works with". No cares...Work smarter and be better!

If he can't handle Ritz, Ryan will destroy him.
I find it amazing that Saucony would keep Stinson on the payroll, but drop/let go of Droddy, Seidel and True over the past year. That’s the part that makes the least sense to me
Wrong. He made this claim post race.

Pretty simple. Seidel and True make a more more than Parker’s 20k contract so they couldn’t afford them. Saucony has a small budget. Droddy on the flip side isn’t worth sponsoring.
