Given that the British monarchy exists and is culturally important to many British (and Commonwealth) citizens, Queen Elizabeth has performed her role in it admirably. She's lived up to high standards, handled thousands of engagements and obligations, adapted to huge societal changes, and basically did what she had to do and did it well, without embarrassing her family and her country.
The same cannot be said for other British royals, including her dipshift son Charles and one of her grandsons (spoiled azz-jack Harry).
Trump put her in her place.

Monarchy is a system of government. It’s been in existence since the beginning of recorded history.
England likes to hang on to the traditions even though it’s not actually a monarchy. I get it, but only viewed in the context of the long and storied history of England. It’s a great nation, probably the greatest, and the monarchy is integral, to say the least.

The royals are like any other family. Some are solid. Some are losers.
My Head of State, Head of the Armed Forces (I'm a Veteran), Head of the Church, Head of the Commonwealth, Actively served in WW2.
I'd say she's warned our respect, deference and gratitude.
She has mine.
I bow to no one, and to call someone Her Royal Highness, you gotta be effin' kidding me.
The Royal Family is the UK equivalent of the Kardashians. They do nothing, but somehow are worth billions.

Prince Andrew, the Duke and Pedophile of York, needs to be imprisoned. The only reason to have the monarchy now is for tourism.

Euros have always loved totalitarian government, but they prefer it rich with tradition and pageantry, i.e. an all-powerful oligarchy of beloved and respected aristocrats.
The Queen doesn't rule anything. You're completely clueless.

Would you have said that to Henry VIII? I didn't think so.

This is actually quite a common misconception that the British monarchy is just a famous family. If you listen to how Meghan Markle speaks about what she married into, it's obvious she didn't realize that there's much more to it and they are not just some people basking in fame. They actually hold the rituals and pageantry and imagery as vitally important - it only survives through glorification of their past. The family still exercises power, if in more indirect ways. The UK upper house, the House of Lords, is about 12% hereditary and is attended by dukes, earls and viscounts who's ancestors received their titles through loyalty to the monarch. The current Duke of Wellington - Charles Wellesley, is a UK lawmaker because his great-great-great grandfather defeated Napoleon at Waterloo.
When the American constitution says the Kardashian family can have three seats in the senate let me know!
Before 1999 all 800 hereditary titles were entitled to a seat, which meant about 50% of the upper house was hereditary (today they are limited to 92 seats and must decide among themselves who goes). Before 1958 the only people who sat there held a hereditary title. The US might have it's problems but at least there's a agreement this stuff is crazy.

Ultimately the House of Lords is more of an oversight committe than law makers, they get to vote after Parliment does,if they agree it goes through,if not they send it back to be reviewed but if after all the elected Parliament decides to make it law the the Lords can't stop it.

It's for the Brits to decide. The Queen has always tried to live a noble life so can't criticize her personally. I can criticize Americans who idolize royalty and give a flipping bleep about Megan Markle and Princess Di for that matter. When QE2 passes my suggestion to the Brits is to liquidate their assets and titles, give the remnants a comfy retirement and join the modern world.
This.

The Kardashians made their money in the marketplace. They created “value” from nothing. It’s disturbing that so many people want to buy whatever worthless $hit they are selling, but God Bless America.

I'm gland QE2 isn't such a dreadful snob.
I have always enjoyed my many visits. I think it's a place go be proud of.
You've visited the British queen many times. Wow! I didn't think that was possible...

Yeah marketing! Even with a minor in marketing, I find the average human stupid and desperate Humans don't seem to understand this endless consumerism is neither good for the planet nor our souls. Ah well...

I'm fascinated how old people like you show such deference to someone who lords over you and tells you, you are inferior because of her accident of birth.
