Without knowing what the kinematics of the Covid group was prior to their infection there’s no way to determine what the change post-recovery difference might be.
While the odds that randomly selected groups of people who’ve had Covid and those who haven’t would have statically different kinematics might be small the control would’ve been better if all of these people who were tested were in the testing pool prior to any getting infected and then studying them after a large enough portion of the cohort had gotten sick and recovered.
