Spend the next 4 years developing your speed, VO2 Max and stride power and building a consistent weekly routine you can slowly add to over time. Then when you have your 5k and 10k's time down to mid 14 and 30, you can look at building up to a marathon distance. You can improve your lactate and aerobic threshold for a decade or more but you have only 3-5 years (as an adult) once you begin serious consistent training to max out your VO2 Max. Focus there first put as you do so develop the daily routines and weekly consistency you'll need down the road for the longer races.
