Imagine how Molly Huddle must feel when the 105-year-old was repeatedly called "Molly Huddle."
I know I should feel happy for her and realize that a) hardly anyone lives to 105 and b) hardly anyone who lives to 105 can run 100 meters, but man it's kind of sad to me that running 100 meters in 1 minute + at age 105 is that best someone can do. Not knocking her, but when I see age groupers like Tommy Hughes, Pete Magill and the late Ed Whitlock, I find that hugely inspiring. This just seems kind of sad to me. And I'm not criticizing her by any means, she's at least a one in a million, my comment is more about the sad state of human aging.

M 105 WR was only about 7.5 seconds slower than the M100 record He is still alive - 112 in April 2022.
Using the new 2022 AG tables: Age grades to 79.05% for M105 WR
W105 age grades to 59.26% for Hawkins.

Slower at 105 than at 101. We should all be so lucky.
I've heard this phenomena called the Masters' Cliff. Nothing to see here - move on.
Strava numbers ?
It is more like 1 in a billion. Aging is not pretty.
To give some perspective, most people, when they reach the age of 100, cannot run because they are dead. The few that are still alive past the age of 100, either have dementia or are wheelchair-bound or both.
Those that go really lucky with the genetic lottery, may be able to walk to the restroom and perhaps climb a flight of stairs. If you have ever been around people over the age of 100, you'd realize that running 100m at 105 is just amazing.

Well at least getting slower makes her probability of doping pretty low, unlike some masters women in their late 50s getting faster over the previous 10 years.

But he stopped running, right? He doesn't have any M110 record.

Was her fitness off?
Nobody is periodizing for November. I see her rounding into form around summer next.
Let's hope! She only has so many years left for setting PRs...

It was probably this guy:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-TrOZRHB31cOne day you wake up and you're not 81 any more.
So awesome! I wonder when she took up sprinting? Anyone know if she starts out of the blocks and I guess the bigger question is whether she was wearing the Nike Zoom Vaporfly Elite spikes... Could be an unfair advantage over her fellow 105 year old competitors with the new shoe technology there lol
Slow old people is a first-world problem. Give everyone cars to drive around in and deliver everything to their door and of course they will live long and get weak.
Third world people who have to move themselves around to stay alive would obliterate these records if they could live that long. The fact they don't has nothing to do with mobility.

I can't wait till Bekele is 40 next year and starts destroying all the masters WRs category by category. He is still the WRs greatest runner(of any age) at 39, so expect the centenial WRs to be shattered to pieces in 60 years
LOL

IT IS! What a heartwarming story.
Remember this in 30 years when PED-fueled running boomers are breaking 20 for 100m at 105 yo.
Shouldn’t the time technically read 1:02.95? Like it’s 1 minute and 2.95 seconds right? Not an hour 2 minutes 95 seconds* obviously. I answered my own question. But still, who was editing these press releases!?

Seriously though, she's probably 1 in a billion.
It's a sad state.
She doesn’t periodically suit her training and drink alone, like Jamin does.
Hope she competes next year!!!
