The whole team has risen to another level this season! They are crushing expectations. Go NAU!
Well they had solid track times last spring and those track times showed that they were going to have some serious depth too
Some laughed when I posted this 3 months back for pre season prediction NC St/NM - 5 strong runners on both teams, looks close on paper (assumes good health of course). These 2 seem much better than anyone other teams. Both teams could have 5 in top 30. OSU - some ifs but if they work out seem likely for podium esp on home course. The last hill may kill some other teams weakness at #4 and 5 runners like 2020. NAU/Colorado/ND/Alabama/Washington/BYU - some ifs on each team, esp at #4 and 5 but seem most likely to fight it out for 4-9 place. Whoever finds the best depth will prevail, esp Alabama and BYU.

I haven’t run the math but their xc times seem to indicate an even higher level of fitness even compared to their solid track times. Wonder if they run Big Sky all out. Might see some pretty fast 5k times? Or they cruise as a pack?

I don't think the NAU W have much competition so they most likely will run more as a pack. Same goes for a number of conference meets.
Also Nikita Moore and Victoria Gaitan have not raced and are major talents. NAU could be a podium team with a team of Cotter, O’Neill, Moore, Gaitan, and Hanson. Hope they get it together. They would be fun to watch.
Tori Gaitan was on a major decline her senior year, doubt she ever comes back to the form you remember.
I agree. She had not come back from the injury she had her senior year of high school.
She has had some very poor results for the level of talent she showed prior to her senior year of high school.
She has been in one result that I found for this season and it was a DNF.
I hope she proves all wrong and has success in the future.

From what I’ve heard she’s just really battled injuries after her growth spurt. Seems like a nice girl. Let’s wish her the best but focus on those that are doing SO well on her team not how’s she’s not. Im a big fan of teams showing such success after years of just working hard, heads down no big flashy recruits. Smith is working his magic with this group.
I especially love this story because non of the girls in this team were blue chip recruits out of high school. Most were average high school talents who were given a chance at NAU and now they compete with the teams who always get the best of the best like OSU, Standard, Oregon and Colorado. Good stuff!
