Gimme a break, dude! Who's the mentally weak one here?
If I were in Albertson's position at the point when you say he "backed off", I would have sprinted each additional 100 meters in 11.34 seconds all the way to the finish line in my only shot at greatness. I wouldn't have "given it away". No, I take that back. I would have run a Kipchoge pace from the start. Yeah, that's the ticket.
Um...MAYBE ALBERTSON COULDN'T WIN after going out to such a big lead!! Maybe he felt so lousy that he couldn't sustain the pace at the time he "backed off", but he fought on and finished top ten. Did you even consider that? Give him credit for trying his best and SUCCEEDING.
Regarding second-placer Lemi Berhanu, if I were in his position, I wouldn't have let Benson Kipruto win. Regarding third-placer Jemal Yimer, if I were in his position, I wouldn't have let Kipruto and Berhanu beat me.
If I were Dick Beardsley, I wouldn't have let Alberto Salazar beat me back in the "Duel in the Sun" in 1982.
Ugh...these armchair quarterbacks like brien evans! Sad.
