When is censorship of facts and view that run counter to the establishment narrative good for the public?

Right now? When the holes in the swiss cheese are really about to line up with potentially devastating results.

supposedly this is the tweet that made it happen.
twitter is a joke

But hey, it's only the last bits and pieces of our democracy on the chopping block.
The people who are chopping away at democracy are the ones who savor misinformation and cherish any lie that suits their biases. That has been the essence of the pandemic, with this guy and countless others like him. They know they have an audience who will consume any and all crap.
Again, it was never necessary to know a damn thing. I can't believe anyone looked at one statistic. Generalities overwhelm specifics. If it was immediately being compared to 1920 then it would be dramatically worse than estimated. Nate Silver was fooled to the point he was downplaying in early stage, because he was absorbing numbers instead of relying on big picture logic. Many of us scolded him on that on his twitter feed.
Absolutely this ban is a good thing. How can it be debated? One side of the aisle is so out of touch with reality that it actually devoted to a moron who called the pandemic a hoax, who claimed 38 different times that Covid-19 was disappearing or about to disappear.
This is a pure numbers game, just like track and field. Deceitful cannot be tolerated given world record quantities of delusional. If fewer right wingers weren't so remarkably stupid and gullible, the misinformation would be laughed at and all but ignored.
Follow me here….. fairly chronologically…..
You said he couldn’t win the presidency because he was so racist. He won, destroying every single media narrative about why he’d lose.
You said he won because of Russian Collusion. That was proven to be an FBI hoax.
You said Bret Kavanaugh used to organize gang bangs in high school. Zero corroboration of any of the accusations.
You believed Michael Avenatti was going to take Trump down, and some were even suggesting he should run for president. He’s now in jail.
You vilified a 17 year old kid for standing still as a strange old Native American man walked up beating a drum inches from his face. One mainstream journalist asked the world if we’ve “ever seen a more punchable face?” The boy has received a couple settlements now.
You believed Jussie Smollet’s story of being attacked by some MA GA guys in the middle of the night in Chicago in -20 weather. ‘Twas just a hoax.
You believed Trump should be removed for urging the Ukrainian president to look into the corruption relating to Hunter Biden’s petroleum exploits. Thanks to Hunter’s crackhead way (mentioned later), we’ve now seen all the evidence of the pay to play scheme and laundering money to his father… the VPOTUS at the time.
(Insert much more pre-Covid ridiculousness here.)
As Covid was just popping up in the US, Trump shut down travel from China. Nancy Pelosi and Bill DeBlasio tweet out that Trump is xenophobic, and that we all should go out to Chinatown and go see a Broadway show, respectively. Unbelievably bad advice for which they’ve never been held to account.
You said Trumps claims that a vaccine would be ready before the end of 2020 were silly, he’s an idiot, and that it would “take a miracle” to be true. It coincidently was announced the week after the election.
You called anyone that questioned the origins of the virus (including prominent biologists/virologists) crazy conspiracy theorists, as it “certainly came from nature.” To this day, there is zero evidence tracing it back to any species in nature. We now finally have people coming forward saying it OBVIOUSLY came from the lab, and that the US funded gain of function research at the lab… and that Fauci and his pal Peter Daszak lied to us for over a year. But you refuse to hold them accountable.
You wouldn’t acknowledge anything about Cuomo’s (and a few other Dem governors) decision to send seniors with Covid back into nursing homes, which directly led to thousands more deaths than would have occurred. Instead, you gave him a book deal and an Emmy Award. (Those serial sexual harassment accusations did the trick, however, as they recently took the Emmy back. LOL!)
The clearly-demented human your party made you vote for, who’s family gained immense riches while he was VPOTUS by peddling his influence, has been on camera inappropriately touching children and sniffing their hair. Obama’s SoD Bob Gates said in his book that Biden “has been wrong on every foreign policy decision over the last 30 years.” His current Afghanistan moves are unfathomable (and I too believe we need to bring our troops home). His recent mental shutdowns/falling asleep at events are amazing. And he’s such a great father, that his son (“smartest person he knows”) is a crackhead, who banged his dead brother’s ex, isn’t allowed to be in the same vicinity as his niece because of inappropriate sexual comments, and goes on binges so hard that he leaves laptops at repair shops and doesn’t remember it happening (that 60 Minutes interview was unbelievable- “it could be mine”- LOL). But you guys think Don Jr and Eric are the real bad people.
So yes, one side is certainly out of touch with reality. Complete lunatics, in fact.

He is allowed to do so. At his home. On parlor. Out with friends. Maybe on Fox News.
Just not on Twitter. Their platform, their rules.

TLDR.
I’m sorry Democrats hurt you so bad.
It is almost like freedom of speech isn’t extended to companies. I expect LRC to stop all moderation.

That is a glib, simplistic response given the reach and scope of Twitter. Almost all modes of mass
communication are private platforms of one sort or another. And what he said isn't all
that nutty, although he is way out of his depth making those claims. He's not a scientist
or a doctor, he's a writer and reporter.

He can start his own friggen website. Or go stand on a street corner and yell. He has no right to expect a private company provide him anything, especially a platform for misinformation.

one does not need to be a scientist or a doctor to be proficient in analyzing statistics.

What does that possibly have to do with the establishment censoring voices it does not want us to hear?

Actually only people who don't believe in free speech would agree with this.
Why are vaxxers afraid to hear other opinions?
Liberals silencing debate. Classic anti-intellectual tactics.

Wow. Government control of social media? I thought people on the right were opposed to communism. Who picks the judges that decide who should be banned?

So a company that creates a platform through it's own innovations and funded by private investment should be taken over by the government and run essentially as an appendage of the government. Is this really the state of conservatism today?
Twitter is not a utility or a non-profit. It is owned by shareholders. If the government wants to build a social media platform paid for with tax dollars they can do so, but I find that to be a chilling prospect.
