There are kids who play football, basketball, baseball because they know how much money the athletes make. 99% of these kids have no chance of even playing in college, but they can dream.
About 15 years ago someone I knew signed a contract out of college. I know that they started at 50K plus bonuses.
This person has been on more than one Olympic and World Championship teams and has medaled, plus many other accolades.
