Just imagine how good Bekele would be if he had Kipchoge's discipline, work ethic, and consistency in training?

I guess but his 2:01 was in a race where there were 5 guys (6 including 1 pacer) at 20k & 3 at 30k. He did run down Legese. Bekele is the ultimate wild card in the marathon. I don't really think it matters a whole lot who shows up versus what Bekele shows up. He can have an army of pacers to get him through 25k. All he needs is 1 or 2 other guys to be there to add some competition & keep him motivated. Here for him giving it another go. Need to see him race Kipchoge in the spring before they're both another step closer to retirement than their primes.
Honestly yeah, it’s almost frustrating how inconsistent he is when he is clearly more naturally talented than Kipchoge. Consistent hard work wins over talent I guess
I think kipchoge should take a long break after the Olympics then train for Boston in April, then New York in November 2022, and Tokyo in early 2023 and then whatever to prepare for the 2024 Olympics.

The most talented runner ever is Daniel Konen. But Bekele is probably sa close second. I'd say Cheptegei is close to Bekele's talent buy has a better work ethic and better shoes hencecthe records.
It would be cool to see him run in America but if Bekele breaks the WR there’s no way he doesn’t try to take it back

I have a hard time imagining Bekele doing a solo time trial for WR. His best performances in the marathon have been a result from chasing strong competitors. I think it's likely that the available competition has a big effect on his finishing time (if he's in shape). If the London field was in Berlin then a WR would be more likely.
But yeah not a good sign that his appearance is announced just a month before the event.. were they unsure until now whether he would be in any shape at all? Hopefully it's just an olympic year thing. Surely Hermens is thinking about Bekele's reputation and wouldn't send him to a certain DNF? But of course it's business too and the appearance fees matter in another covid year with limited opportunities.
But no one really has been announced for Berlin aside from Bekele have they?

New WR incoming?
A DNF is more likely than a WR
Not yet household names but Reuben Kipyego and Shifera Tamru could give him all he can handle on an off day.

Yeah, hopefully it's just because of the olympics and covid and the uncertainty of who would be available.
He'll DNS.
Bekele runs another 2:01 and LRC GOES HOME DEVASTATED!

He has one of the craziest spreads in result outcomes.
At this point I expect every race Bekele runs to have one of two outcomes, a 2:01 or faster, or a DNF/DNS.
Funny how these most talented runners ever always appear at times and places where EPO testing is absent.
Fairly sure someone has told you this before, but you really need to seek professional help.
You post on here 24/7 with the most negative stuff. This will probably come across as a joke but I genuinely feel that you need help before it's too late.
Ultimate slap in the face if after all this dominance, Bekele cleans up the marathon WR to send Kipchoge home devastated.
Love to see it but I would be surprised at age 39. Eventually we all slow down…even the best
Will Berlin even happen?
It was a huge shame Bekele wasn't selected. An in shape Bekele in a race won in 2:08? He would have destroyed Kipchoge over the latter stages.
