Grow up.
I said it years ago, Rupp was pretty good. He was never gonna be the best, but you can't win em all. He was supposed to compete with east Africans, and succeeded in mixing it up a bit.
Now his task is done, supplanted by Norwegians and others who got to a par situation with the east Africans. New era. Motive is gone.

its a pity that with all the drugs he cant beat 2:10
Honestly, what is he going to do? He never went to College, doesn't seem to have made much of an impact in the media (he has no social media and barely races these days so why would people sponsor him), his image is tainted with his close ties to Salazar. Cushy retirement as an olympic medallist? He finished 30 seconds faster than Koen Naerts, who at least worked as a nurse before turning pro, pretty much has to pay in cash for everything he needs to run (he was working with victims of the brussels terrorist attack for example, and when his sports career is over plans to continue and build links between what he learned in sports and health). Other runners also have jobs, or activities on the side to give them something... does galen rupp have anything to do?
Eight in the most important marathon in the world has to be respected. Five minute pace in 80 plus degrees has to be respected. He had a plan and went for it but seven guys were faster. American record or near record in all distances 5k and up. Props to Galen Rupp and reading letsrun is a clear example of why young athletes should copy him and avoid social media. Good luck in Chicago Galen.

I think he will be just fine with his 2 Olympic medals - he ran a gutsy race and ground it out even when he was out of the medals - top 8 - no shame
I thought he ran a gutsy race

This….
Kipchoge is pretty much finished. A full 9 minutes slower than his pb.

You think having no social media is a negative.
Good for him, shows he is not an insecure narcissist.
Noah Lyles should take note.
It's all about connections. Nepotism. Galen Rupp will know a lot of people. As a premier American athlete he could probably walk into a top banking job as it gives the company kudos.

It's more from an economic view. Perhaps he has enough of a following in the US that he can do what he wants so it doesn't matter, and people will blindly follow him . But he seems pretty unknown abroad. So it;s genuine curiosity considering how much people are obsessed with him.

After Enron, the housing crisis, the banking crisis - is it a good idea to give a top job to a jock? I suppose you mena just for selling ads and insurance and whatsnot.
Went for it and finished 8th. Very very respectable. Hope to see him in a Fall Major but guessing the timeline is too tight.

On second though my mistake, in a country when donald trump can be president-- anything, literally, anything is possible. hmm maybe he'll be president, or governor.

HIM and Centro?
I think the only joke here is your lack of literacy

I didn’t know Rupp did the discus and thought he was only in the marathon. I’d be humiliated too if I got entered into a field event.
He will get a "weird uncle" job at Nike. On the sports marketing payroll but, no one is really sure what he does or if he ever comes to the office. Salazar had that sort of gig before NOP was started.
