Would have been much better to have Chris Chavez and Kyle Merber commentate. The overall production quality and commentating of their streams have been much better than the other self broadcasted/produced meets.

Ive mentioned this before. These athletes all get communications degrees. They should have experience doing this. If you’re not comfortable in front of the camera, let someone else step in. There’s thousands of interns in the US that could have pulled this off.
i liked sound running better when it was free. no one would be complaining if they had it set up like last time. free event and donations go to the runners. its an olympic year and a great way to draw in new fans, but charging people for shoddy events isnt the way.
Agree that paying $59.99 for this was a bust.
The feed never worked for me, I gave up and went to bed.
Really disappointed, I know it's only $6.00 but I did not get what I paid for at all.
I’d be fine with minimal commentary. Just show the races is what Id be paying for.
What's nice is that by not spending any money on production costs all the money can go back to the athletes! I'm sure they'll be over the moon when they find out they get an extra $86.32 for the win!

I’m paying for this and this is what I get? Jeff Merrill is fine doing his talk show host thing on Tracklandia but he straight up sucks doing race commentary. He’s like a human sedative.
Leah Falland is terrible as well. Why are we having extended conversation about chicken nuggets ?
No live splits or clock on the screen or results immediately following the races. Terrible production too. If you’re going to charge people $5.99 to watch this you need to put together a more quality product.
LRC Note. We merged two threads into 1. The 2nd thread was entitled. "Sound Running meet commentary"
This is exactly why I didn't pay to watch it. I think if it was free to watch but donations are suggested, I would have contributed something.
Sucks to hear they blew it last night.

Yea, the lady commentator started talking about how she bought a beachfront property and her kids sleep in bunk beds and all sorts of unrelated stuff.
She actually said the ON guys sleep in bunk beds and their feet stick out, so relevant.
I doubt she has kids. —I think you're getting bitter cause of house prices. Me too:(
I think they had an Air BnB in Dana Point . No way anyone running for ON could afford OC real estate.
So basically you paid not a lot of money for something that wasn't very good. Seems appropriate, no?
Rojo, anyway you can ask for comment on the poor feed ?
I gave up and went to bed here on the east coast.
I'll chime in saying that I really enjoyed the show last night. For the price (very nominal-like 1/2 of going to the movies) I saw some great races, and enjoyed the light hearted commentary. Jeff announced that they were disappointed not to have a visual clock on the screen for viewers but he did a great job of giving lap splits and talking about how far up or behind qualifying pace the pack was. he also knew how to correctly pronounce Galvan! ;v) I also enjoyed Leah, and felt like she was more comfortable behind the mic as the evening went on. As usual, too many haters on the boards. I loved the show! Thank you!

It's not hating when you expect the feed to work.
Trials of Miles had similar technical issues in their first live-streamed meet which then then figured out on the back end.
In my mind you throw some of the money into production, get that clock on the screen, give splits, and the commentary is a plus. Chris and Kyle do a ton of research, they also get compensated to do this no doubt.
Feels like this meet pushed all the money towards the athletes (which isnt wrong), but probably need to strike a middle ground. Put some of that money into the floor for production, and then if you really hate the commentary mute the stream and follow along via the clock.
I still prefer this model. Imagine if you'd gotten the same quality but signed up for a 12 month membership...
This is the reason why the sport is a joke! Bottom line, do not charge $$$ tor a crappy product.
Tech issues were par for the course with streaming stuff on the internet. NHL games get laggy for me sometimes too, just how it goes.
An improvement over flotrack and their ilk as you had head on views of home- and backstretch and some occasional drone shots which were interesting.
Commentary can be easily improved by either A) muting, putting on a 1974 live set from the Dead and keeping your own splits, or B) getting people to talk who have actually done research and know athletes' trajectories coming into the meet so don't have to try and fill time with stupid personal anecdotes and summaries of what's happening in track geek social media. Merrill should go back to giggling at fart sounds with Andrew Wheating on youtube.

No, it's "not just how it goes"
You don't charge money for something that does not work.
It was not a slight lag, it didn't work!
A couple recommendations for the producton crew and Sound Runnng:
1) If there are changes to the schedule, publish them on the front page of the race website...when I signed on at 7:30 pm PST, I expected to see a race but instead wasted 30 minutes of my time watching a lagging broadcast with unspectacular commentary.
2) The camera operators and production team should watch how USATF, ESPN, and event Flotrack for the most part zoom in on runners.....in many views, the runners at the far end of the track were filling only about 10% of the screen....be zoomed in on them when you switch to that camera.
3) Don't switch to the side angle of the finish line or zoom in on the winner hunched over when the 2nd, 3rd, 4th and more finishers are finishing......keep the camera live which shows the runners approaching the finish line....we want to see (especially if you had a clock showing) which runners are close to the Olympic and Trials Standards...instead last night we saw runners hunched over, a side view of the finish, and the commenters oohing and ahhing for stuff we couldn't see.
4) If you're not able to pull off the clocks and splits on screen, at least try to request that the timer position a clock that can be in view...we'll get our own splits....to ask viewers to start their own clocks to keep time is amateurish and something I'd expect from a free local livestreamed meet
5) We're not expecting Olympic caliber coverage, just an improvement of the lagging/technical issues, communicating accurate event start times, better camera operating, improved commentary (let's face it, commenting for three 10,000 meter heats can't be easy), and offering a better way to view/see splits and finish times during the broadcast. Good luck! For the good of the sport I'm keeping the faith that ya'll can pull this off.
