Actually, the commenter I responded to said Bekele was doped at his peak and suggested today's Ethiopians shoe by their performances they are probably even more juiced. I would tend to agree - even if others don't.
Adding Kipchoge to the list. Now six distance WRs in the two years since Coe's confetti statement, 15 in the last 5 years.

Jakob's time
How many world records were set between January 2007 to January 2009 in distance events? The answer is quite a few. Records are constantly being beaten. And a lot of the records mentioned are road records, they were pretty soft in the 1990's. The best runners in the world typically stuck to the track. Then when all of the prize money left the track and more road races beefed up their money in the early 2000's more fast distance runners went to the roads.
The track WRs are entirely due WAVELIGHT pacing. Imagine if Bekele had a pacer run the whole 10k with him....my god.
Bekele’s 10000m WR splits were 13:09/13:08. How could pacing lights have made a difference? In HS, my 2-mile PR was 71 seconds per lap. At the section meet, two guys were running even 70s were right in front of me, but I couldn’t keep up and ended up with a positive split. Pacers or lights, will not help someone to out run their talent and fitness.
This thread combines track and road racing, but the effect of new shoe technology on performances is night and day. On the roads, they’re worth probably a minute for the HM and two in the marathon, but on the men’s side, track WRs have held, or been only slightly improved. During the Monaco race, there was briefly a close up of Ingebrigtsen feet from behind, and he was barely touching the ground with his heal. What could possibly be done to the shoe where the fore front is more springy?
With people’s assumptions of the effects of pacer lights, it implies that runners from the past were faster, but where is it written that Jakob isn’t every bit as good as El Guerrouj was? I think he is.
