I root for Fisher because I live in Michigan but hard to say who is better. Although Fisher beat him by 4 seconds yesterday the goal for both is championship racing. I hope the Olympics happen but the depth of US talent in the 5000m is deep. Probably 10 guys in the US if not more that could make the Olympic team in the 5000m
the tide continues to turn

In 2018/2019 McDonald outkicked Fisher 4 times to win a national championship by 1 second or less. A little has changed since then, but not much.
It honestly seems that Fisher's speed has improved and Morgan's has either stagnated or regressed just from looking at this meet....but it's way too early to say for certain.
McDonald still running well, but look at Fisher's situation compared to 2 years ago--he is now able to focus on running as opposed to a balancing heavy engineering course-load at Stanford--he went to the best training situation in BTC; It wasn't a big surprise that he would improve a lot given his pedigree; Hindsight is 20/20, but Hunter going pro early was a big mistake.
I wonder how guys like Hunter and McDonald are feeling right now. McDonald is currently injured but based on what he did I thought he would be a sub-13 guy. Now I wonder if he'll have a similar career to Drew that is riddled with injury. The upside for McDonald is that he has a better coach in Dathan. If McDonald can figure out his health he'll could still be a sub-13 guy.

I think the difference with McDonald is his coach and most importantly his training partners and support system. Once he gets healthy he no doubt has the talent to run low 13s.

agreed. McDonald is definitely still a great talent and is in a great situation. However, Fisher is proving that he is a championship caliber racer and barring unforeseen circumstances it is likely that the title could be true. FWIW i dont think Drew's best days are totally behind him, but at the rate other American runners are improving his best days will never make a world or olympic team.
Hunter and McDonald have biomechanical issues going on, far more so than Fisher.
And yes, someone mentioned, McDonald (like Klecker) was far more mature than others in college, so we've likely seen his peak. Fisher clearly has a higher ceiling.
I would say Hunter will never beat Fisher again. McDonald might finish within a stride or two, once or twice. By the time Paris comes around, though, I wouldn't bet that even one of them will be wearing national uniforms.
"Never" is a very absolute term. Clearly right and in the future now Fisher looks to be favored in races with the other two (maybe by a lot), but in a given race, funny things can happen. Or injuries can happen. Just my 2 cents.
