Just not true. I've had $30-$40 running shirts/tanks, mostly Nike (but also NB, Asics, etc.), for years and years. I've been running for over 40 years. You simply don't need to spend more than that, currently, to get a good shirt.
But sure, l guess that lots of people will tell themselves otherwise.
