Mondo is already listed at 5' 11" and 174 lbs, very comparable dimensions to a world class sprinter. The pole vault is first and foremost a speed event and Mondo ran a 10.57 in the 100m in high school and long jumped 23', he is undoubtedly faster now. His mother was a world class heptathlete and his father a world class pole vaulter. To think that he has not been receiving the absolute best coaching in the world for this event his entire life is absolutely ridiculous. Go back and watch his 6.17 and 6.18 records from indoors, massive clearances, he has another 10 cm or more to go, he will put the record out of sight before he is done.
