Don't worry they'll post the video next year!
Is this meet sanctioned and will this time go in the books, or is it just a glorified Time Trial?

Beat me to it. What’s the definition of a race that “counts” for record keeping and history vs. a time trial? Electronic timing? Runner intros and a PA announcer?
The court of public opinion will send this into the record books..

Agree.
Flotrack used to be about spreading T&F now it's about killing the sport.

I don't understand the questioning of the validity of the meet. They had a USATF official, coned track, and 6 finishers. Those are the requirements. Not only will it count as a valid record by T&F News, it also should count from the NFHS because it was an all high school race. Most sub 4s have been in professional races.

worst part about being a fan of this sport: dumb paywalls set up by the incompetent MileSplit and FloTrack
Worst part about the sport is entitled “fans” who want people to produce things for free. You are what’s wrong with the sport
Great announcing. Great video. Great that Milesplit provided this to me at no additional cost. Flotrack/Milesplit is about the only organization that really cares about the sport. Letsrun is full of angry people who don't watch track other than Tuohy or Ping. It became clear this week that people don't watch track when they started asking who these boys were and they admitted that they don't pay for Flotrack.
So who is profiting from the race? Obviously the website, but who are they paying for these rights—the parents?
Or did they just say, hey, we’ll show up and video your race and we’ll sell it online and also, FYI, none of you are allowed to post your own video of it.
I don’t like it either way, but I’m curious about the specifics.

Real ones have access to accounts that are shared. No joke my milesplit account has 12,000 logins.
No. You can only do 3 simultaneously. So only 3 of those 12,000 watched the race last night.

How does this " meet " go off at a public high school in California where all public schools are closed. With an announcer, lights on, auto timing and fans. Someone please explain. All tracks at Public schools in my area are locked shut.
It's not the scandal you think it is. In El Dorado County there are 67 cases out of a population of almost 200K and restaurants are now allowed to reopen. I was at the race and there were few people attending, so it was easy to maintain social distancing. A handful of guys running together in a race is not much of story.

That's because people don't usually come into El Dorado County from all over the country to breath heavily in a big pack and then hug each other. But nothing lasts forever.
Social distancing is done. Hospitals were not overwhelmed so it is time to gather. Everyone is going to be infected at some point. I congratulate these kids. They should be stood up as heroes for doing what adults are too scared to do. There should be races in every state next Saturday.

The rules of the county are what is applicable and there is no distinction between residents and visitors. There is not going to be a big investigation by crazy liberals. It's likely the organizers obtained permission as the lights were on at the track and would have drawn sheriff deputies had they had not.
If you read epidemiology studies on how the coronavirus spreads knows that the biggest factor is being indoors for long periods. It's anywhere around 50-500x the exposures.
The fact that this isn't widely reported is just media looking to cause more turmoil instead by posting gatherings of people outside.
Nothing will last forever fortunately. When we go into the summer and people are outside we will be fine. What happens in the fall might be different, but don't ruin this period by being needlessly fearful.
Incredible last 200 out of him. Really fun to watch.
Reminded me of Cheserek when he sprints. The form goes but he gets faster.
