Okay, not actually back into form, but he ran decent! 10th at BTB in 30:03. That's a decent time there. And Abdi ran 29:36! I want these guys to kick ass at the trials!

definitely hoping he makes the olympic team
quite solid. I hope he can build on this health and get back. Just 3:04 to go, and on a track.
Did he run the 12k or something?
30:03 is actually terrible.
He should be running a 10k tempo in 30 minutes without much trouble.
Seriously. Does anyone have any inside info on what happened to him after the hamstring surgery? He ran 13:26(?) I believe the year after which seemed like he was on the right track. Figured the next year 13:10 or so and then he could possibly be back in sub 13/27 shape the year after that. Instead he seemed to go the opposite direction for no reason. No other injury etc. how could he run 13:2x the year after and be a 30 min 10k guy now? Also, seems like he pretty much gave up sometime after that and went to coach.
You might want to look again, as Masters is only about 9 seconds up on Solinsky and Geoghegan, who just ran 13:19, is only a bit further ahead, so this is actually a very good result.
That's a pretty good time for a high schooler
We all know what the real issue is but Solinsky is blue collar so it can't be mentioned.
Solinsky should stick to the track. His size and form has never transferred over very well to the roads and xc.
jenkins recently ran 13:08, right? he only ran 28:50 today. i agree with your initial reaction too, solinksy should be able to run under 29:00 minutes on a fast road course. i know club runners who can run 29:45 and are about 2:18-2:20 marathoners so he has a lot of work to do but relate it to the competition.solinsky is one of the toughest runners out there. if his body can get fit he just needs to stay healthy, get some more confidence from races/workouts, and he could make a go at it. it'd be incredibly difficult, but i hope he can be there. he's just more exciting to watch than most of the other guys.BTW - where the hell is Dathan Ritzenhein these days?

He should start the sport of 10,000 meter boxing. Run 1000 meters, box 1 round, repeat. Time penalty for losing a round.
Don't call it a comeback!
Chris's focus is on other runners now, but a 30:00 10k shows he's still in pretty decent shape.http://www.runnersworld.com/newswire/chris-solinsky-leaving-training-group-to-coach

But LR likes Solinsky, so this is a good result. If Rupp disappeared for a couple years, then ran a 30 minute 10K, there would be a 20 page thread blasting his terrible result. If Webb had jumped on the track and run 30 minutes during his twilight years, it would have been taken as further confirmation that he was finished. But Solinsky? We like him, so his 30 minute 10K is great.

Earned a reputation as an iron man, trained like a madman, ripped his hamstring clean from the bone, had it surgically repaired, was never the same afterwards. No inside info needed to figure out what happened.

Seems you didn't read or didn't understand his post.

Right. Because despite all that he came back nicely for a 13:2x 5k. I think everyone would agree that with that kind of injury and layoff a 13:2x first year back is great progress. Why did he only go backwards??? Afraid to train hard again and risk further injury? Is it mental or physical barrier. I mean I saw the picture that looked like he was missing part of his hamstring but still didn't seem to bother him too much first year back.
thank you.
