Glad to see you un-retired, JAKIR.
I clicked on this thread hoping to see a JAKIR post, I'm glad I was not disappointed.
2:13... Not bad for the 2nd race of the year
Why doesn't 3:28 man MO FARAH take a shot at the 1,000?
I'll tell you why. Because the 1,000 is UNDOPEABLE.

You must go easier on the hookah, brother.
IAAF tables say for 2.13.07 - 1.43.24/3.31.21. Not out of the realm of possibility. Perhaps his best event is the 1000m.
Race is on Youtube.
Looked like a planned attempt. From the 400m split and finish time, looks like the onscreen clock was about 0.2 sec slow, so I've added 0.2 to each split time to get a more accurate idea of his splits.
No clear 100m marking, but marks at 110 & 90m from home, so can split difference to get a pretty accurate idea of times at those points.
His 200 splits looked to be, c. 26.8, 26.0, (52.8), 27.2, (1:19.0), 27.3 (1:46.3), 26.7.
So pretty even splits. The first 400m wasn't too fast (2:12.0 pace), he had total drafting up until about 740m & didn't run wide. Looked strong in the last 100m (c. 13.4)
The 800m split is likely to be the least accurate however, due to a time keeper/coach, moving right in front of the camera as Makhloufi approached that point. I used other markers just past this point and compared to time he took between same points on first lap. So 800m could be between 1:46.1 and 1:46.5.
Someone will doubtless now tell us that it was too hot, too windy, too noisy and he had to travel too far to get there, and that really it's worth 2:11.5!!
Those scores don't seem to match up. This is the fourth best time ever and those are pretty average ones.
And to clarify, he is now only slower than Ngeny, Coe and Cram at the distance
Tx for the link. Scary that he doesn't even look winded after the race.
The article says that he is #4 all-time (Ngeny, Coe, Cram), that he beat Morceli's national record of 2:13.73, and that he is running the 1500m in Paris with the aim of breaking 3:30. Very impressive performance. This might be his best distance.

because you have learn't nothing
you assume all wrs have = value
1k times are utter total fuucking crap compared to 800 or 1500
no one gives a fuuck about 1k, or races it seriously, or gets proper pacing apart from '80
here are my "mathematical tables" for track :

In an event that is rarely contested and when it is, not often focused on.
If the 1000m were an Olympic event and all the 800m/1500m guys ahead of Mahkloufi had trained for the 1000 (admittedly pretty much 800m training) and raced it 5/6 times a year, there would be more names ahead of him on the AT list. e.g. If Rudisha had made an attempt (serious attempt? Not sure if he has but IAAF has no time for him), if he goes through 800 3.9 seconds off his PR (1:45) he "only" needs a 28, so yes maintain pace but just barely, for 2:13 flat. And he's not a strength 800 guy.
I agree this should point to a better 800 for Mahk probably, but just keep in mind it's rarely run and some guys just hit a one-off homerun in it.
Either way he's clearly in great shape and will make things interesting in Beijing
He has excellent drafting to, I think, 1:38, quite close, but the pacers held him back (the second pacer was always back of the first pacer a fair amount), and he finally taps the second pacer and goes on. He looks fairly controlled. I think that he does have a good shot at breaking Ngeny's world record or at least getting very close to it. Going slower the first 200 then the next is unusual and not ideal--you're using your ATP shot in that first 10 seconds or so. The splits were not determined by his fitness but by what his pacers were doing--he was right on them and could have gone faster. Finally, he does pick back up, especially the last 100m. 3:28 is definitely in play for Paris if conditions are not scorching.

no
even 2'11.5 - 2'12.0 is poor for 800 or 1500
find your own tables
he was in 1'42-flat/3'26-high shape at games
he is getting back to that shape for rio & in peking might flatten non-3'27, or non-1'41 guys
his best distance may be 800 looking at him for years, but like Asbel he got pushed to 1500 & snores too much on opening lap of a 800
