Hope they find him okay - sounds like a good kid.
No kidding...that program does not need another tragedy.
One of their foreigners killed themself within the last few years so it would be extra bad for them to lose another.
I hope they find Cheseto! He is a beast, great competitor and I'm sure a great man.

As opposed to the programs that do...
Did I wish bad on anyone? No. I just don't want to see a second tragedy in Anchorage...they have to be still suffering from the first incident. Of course that doesn't mean I want there to be a tragedy somewhere.
I lost a teammate in college. If we would have lost a second one within the next couple of years - I can't fathom what it would have been like.
Now maybe go be a jerk about semantics somewhere else.
Cheseto running an amazing 10k at Mt Sac. Watch the last 1200m.
I hope that this guy is okay. Anchorage does not need more negative publicity than it already has.
This is really, really sad, but I'll admit I initially thought that the headline referred to someone who ran in the (DIII) UAA conference meet, so I was confused--I didn't think they'd had snow for that one.
After one of the UAA races (years ago, now), a guy almost succumbed to heatstroke--wandered off after finishing the race, and wasn't found and given medical attention/hospitalized until some time later--so a case of weather-related injury seemed a real possibility when I saw the headline.
Anyway, I hope the UAA Kenyan is okay, but it really doesn't look good. Sad for his friends, loved ones, and team.
Really hoping this turns out okay. If anybody's on hand in Anchorage, please keep us updated!
Wow, this is very sad. He was getting his degree in Nursing so he could help others when he went back home. I really hope they find him, he sounds like a great guy.

Yeah that's the main thing bad publicity
he's still missing....helicopter and search teams started back up again this morning. given the severity of the snow storm on the night of his disappearance things are not looking overly optimistic.
The article said he was out of eligibility
He's out of XC eligibility, not track.
Did they find him?
That really sucks. Best wishes.
A lot of inaccurate information out there, especially on this board. Careful with assumptions, please.
Very sad. Hope he is found alive and okay.
any more news?
No news yet. They've called off volunteers and just want professional rescue crews working on it. Even more bad news is there is another huge snow storm on the way. For those that knew him, you know how incredible this guy was...funniest guy I ever met.
Filled to the brim with humility, work ethic like you wouldn't believe, and as mentioned ..an incredible sense of humor. We can only dream of becoming as great of human beings, as student-athletes and as friends that was Marko is. The search continues tomorrow with dive teams heading out as well into the 3 surrounding lakes.
