YESSSSSSS
GERMAN WILL SHATTER 836YARDS
Holy f***ing shit, this real? I'm also assuming 1600, sick no matter what. Please run the Pre mile German.
and he is running the 3200 in a couple of hours. I don't know, he looked wiped out after that 1600
Another fantastic race!

I don't know about "shattering 8:36," though. A lot of great HS runners have tried over the last three decades, including Webb.
Just viewed the video of his preliminary 1600m and he cruised a 4:11. I've never seen a high schooler that size run with such efficiency!!
If he ran the 4 flat by himself, then he's got sub 4 for the full mile within him, and probably sub 8:40 in the two mile.
He also got injured according to Gonzales
just flicked on the tv and saw the last 600m live. ( and i'm in nj) wow. he looked tired the last lap, but just muscled his way through. didn't see babcocks race, but heard about it as they were interviewing german after his race. i too hope he is entered in the pre mile.
Webb never attempted to break the two mile record, you really think a kid who runs 3:53 couldn't run 8:35?

Elaborate?
Nevermind, saw it on dyestat. All it says is "and may be injured"
I realize that Webb never made a specific, concerted effort to break Nelson's record, but he did run the distance several times throughout his senior year.
That being said, I was simply using that reference to point out that a fast 1600m time doesn't necessarily indicate that the young man is ready to run 8:35.
"Right after he finished German was on the ground grabbing his hamstring and was being helped by Raul Arcos and a guy from Aptos (his name slipped my mind but it really doesn't matter)...looked like it could have been a cramp if anything...personally, I think he'll be back for the 3200"
"They interviewed him after it. He seemed cool."
From Dyestat.

Webb had no where near the aerobic strength that German does at this point. German could never match Webb's Mile nor 800 from HS, but Webb was never close to 14:23 on a hilly cross country course.
I think he has a shot at it.
FCSP, I'm seeing it as channel 415 but your milage may vary. Unfortunately, I don't have that channel apparently though. What time is the 3200?
he said he had an it band cramp right after the race, but is ok and will run the 3200.

um, no he did not. not outdoors, not even once. he ran it twice indoors, once to qualify and once at nationals. for what it's worth, at indoor nationals, he had a cold and ran alone after 800m.
When is the 3200? anyone know, link to the schedule, anything?

Webb went 8:45 indoors his senior year and also was 2nd at Footlocker, his aerobic strength was pretty near what German has.
