Derrick defended his title winning by 25 seconds over Luke Puskedra with Bobby Mack in 3rd. Van Alstine got the surprise win with Jenny Simpson way back in second, 22 seconds behind Van Alstine. Mattie Suver was 3rd.
Even without WChampionship spots on the line, the field is full of quality as it includes among others 2013 champ Bobby Mack, 2011 champ and CU alum Brent Vaughn, Nick Arciniaga, Jake Riley, Luke Puskedra, 20k champ Meghan Peyton, Mattie Suver and junior stars Elise Cranny and Sean McGorty.

Deena Kastor dominated the women's race as Alan Culpepper pulled off an upset in the men's race.
Here's the advice Willis got before she won the World xc title. "It is like you are hanging on to a window ledge high above a 20-story building. You have to keep hanging on and hanging on, until you cross the finish line. Only then do you let go and drop to fall onto a mattress."
She competed in one race on Friday before US XC and then left immediately after the race on Saturday to compete in 3 relays for her team, helping them finish 5th in both the 200 freestyle relay and 400 freestyle relay.
