Kyle Merber Becomes Third Ivy Leaguer Sub 4 in the Mile Indoors (Video)

The Ivy League may not give out scholarships but it has a tradition of success in NCAA Track and Field and a big following amongst LetsRun.com viewers.
Despite all the success of Ivy League distance runners, until Friday only one Ivy Leaguer had ever been sub four in the indoor mile. Princeton's Bill Burke ran 3:58.70 to win the Millrose Games in 1991.
Editor's note: An earlier version of this article said that Darmouth's Ben True went sub 4:00 indoors. He didn't. He ran 3:59.99 outdoors.
Columbia's Kyle Merber, only a sophomore and the former Millrose Games high school mile champ, not only went sub four on Friday, but he got the Ivy League record running 3:58.52 to get the win at the Columbia Last Chance Meet in the Armory.
(To be fair to Burke, he did go wire to wire to win Millrose in 1991 in 3:58.70 on a much more difficult track - (according to an email we got))
Video and mile results of Merber's run below. Full meet results here.
