Lel (61:07) Returns To Defeat Sub-Par Wanjiru, Adere (67:52) Wins Close Race Over Kim Smith (67:55) Adere and Smith ran the fastest times ever on American soil. Lel and Wanjiru will square off again in London.
On the boards: Shadrack Kiptoo Biwott Fantastic Run Biwott, the former Oregon runner was only 7 seconds behind Wanjiru in 3rd. Biwott is the brother of 2:04:27 marathoner Duncan Kibet. Now that Biwott is out of school he was faced with 2 options since he is not yet an American (and can't get American only prize money): 1) get really good really fast or 2)
realize running doesn't pay that well unless you're running really fast. We praised him last month for winning 3 races in 24 hours which showed he needed the money.

Seton Hall Shock: We're Cutting Track Completely 38-year coach John Moon and his team were asked to attend a meeting where they were told Seton Hall would be cutting men's and women's track and field at the end of this season, in order to save money. "The Hall" has been known for excellent 4 x 400m and 4 x 800m teams and Moon has coached 71 All-Americans and 19 Olympians along with
helping
coach the US Olympic track team.

- LRC Day 2 Distance Recap: Symmonds, Manzano, Pierce, and Uceny Win Titles In 3 of the 4 distance finals on Sunday things went largely as expected with the class of the field coming out on top as World Championship finalists Nick Symmonds (800) and Leo Manzano (1500) won in addition to Anna Willard Pierce (undefeated in 2008 outdoors at 800). The women's 1500 had a major upset at Morgan Uceny, formerly of Cornell, held off Shannon Rowbury's late charge to get her first USATF title.

- Day 1: Men's 3,000: Bernard Lagat Kicks For Win Over Galen Rupp, Chris Solinsky The pace went out super slow and Lagat cruised to victory on the last lap in a pedestrian 8:12. According to OregonLive.com, Rupp lost 8 pounds this week with a stomach virus.
- Women's 3,000: Renee Metivier Baillie And Sara Hall Defeat Shannon Rowbury *Results Baillie took an early lead and the others did not go with her and they came up just short at the end in catching her. The altitude may have played a factor here as Baillie and Hall both train at altitude. Rowbury can still compete
at Worlds for the US because RMB doesn't have the time. The top 2 in each event can go to Worlds if they have hit the qualifying mark
in the past year.

Ridiculous DQ "Costs" Virginia Tech the ACC Title We got emailed about the winner of the 5k getting DQd at the ACC meet. Little did we know the points decided by the DQ were the difference in the meet. You can see a photo here (#41 and 42) and watch a video here. (we've fast forwarded it till right before the DQ). VTech's Will Mulherin threw down a crazy kick but got DQd apparently for holding his ground in lane 1 at the bell. (When we first saw the still photos we assumed the FSU runner got DQd).
