Hayes, Kara Goucher added to Millrose Games NEW YORK CITY (Jan. 28, 2008)
Olympic gold medalist Joanna Hayes and World Championship
bronze medalist Kara Goucher have been added to the lineup for
Fridays 101st Millrose Games, organizers announced today. In addition, a strong College
Mens 4x800-meter relay will feature teams from Columbia,
Seton Hall, Cornell, Villanova, Georgetown,
Arkansas and George Mason. Hayes, 31, set an Olympic
record in winning the 2004 Olympic gold medal in the 100-meter hurdles.
She won here in 2006. Among Hayess rivals will be Canadas Perdita
Felicien, the 2003 World Champion in the 100-meter hurdles and 2004
World Indoor Champion. Goucher, whose 2007 World
Championship bronze was the first World medal ever won by an American
woman at 10,000 meters, will face, among others, Russias Liliya
Shobukhova in the Mile. Shobukhova is the 2006 World Indoor Championship
silver medalist at 3000 meters and a former World Record-holder at that
distance. Headlining the Mel Sheppard
600 will be Americans Bershawn Jackson, 2005 World Champion in
the 400-meter hurdles, and Khadevis Robinson, four-time US Champion
at 800 meters. The 101st
Millrose Games, the third stop in USA Track & Fields Visa
Championship Series, is set for Friday night, Feb. 1, at Madison Square
Garden. Tickets are now available at Ticketmaster (call 212-307-7171,
