By: LetsRun.com April 1, 2007 It was announced on Saturday that Regina Jacobs made the cut as one of the 2007 entrants into the Track and Field Hall of Fame. Some observers thought that perhaps given the fact that later in her career she was exposed as a drug cheat that she might not get in. They were wrong. "Barry Bonds may not get into the baseball Hall of Fame, but track and field's Hall of Fame and record book is full of drug cheats. I therefore thought it would be hypocritcal for her not to get in. She was just unlucky enough to compete in an era when they sort of tested for illegal drugs," said one voter who wished to remain anonymous. "American society loves it's own drug cheats. The vilify foreigners like Ben Johnson but seemingly exalt Mark McGuire, Barry Bonds, Mary Slaney and now Regina. I mean I'd be more surprised if she didn't get in. I mean Mary Slaney is honored at Millrose year in and year out. If Regina didn't get in, numerous voters told me they feared they'd be labelled as racist, and as we all know, being considered a racist is far worse in today's world than cheating people out of medals, endorsements and fame."
