Ethiopians Announce First Wave of Selections for All African Games in July in Algeria The Ethiopian Athletics Federation
(EAF) has announced its first wave of selections for the 9th
All-African Games to be held in Algiers, Algeria (July 11-23’ 2007). The initial wave of selections
include 64 athletes (40 men and 24 women) with four athletes (3 runners
and one reserve) selected for the 5000m, 10000m, and the half marathon. The pick of the selections
sees the return of Gebregziabher Gebremariam into the international
frame after a year out with injury and illness. The 24-year old, who
had finished second in the national championships, leads a young squad
that includes world junior 10000m champion Ibrahim Jeylan. Ethiopia’s Preliminary squad Short Distance- MEN: Wetere Gelelcha (100m), Feleke Degela (400m hurdles), Ubang Abaya (110m hurdles), Zemenu Kassa (200m) Short Distance- WOMEN: Atkilt Wubshet (100m) 4X100m Relay- MEN:
