Not my writing, but I agree:
The reason the Left clings to a moral code that is a war with reality, is that they see reality as subjective, as a creation of man's mind, not as an objective fact that man must use his rational faculty to understand and master. You see this in the ridiculous "fake news", "fake facts" and all the "Ends justify the Means" injustices perpetrated against their political "enemies."
The reasons for the irreconcilable divide today are the opposite views of man, morality and reality. The Left does not trust (other) people to "do the right thing" or make the "right" decisions in their lives. So, their solution is to give (certain) people the power to force others to their will via government's power to coerce.
They do not trust men in a free society (capitalism, limited government). but they insist you trust men when they are "leaders" in government with the force of law behind them.
Capitalism is an interesting conundrum of a system that focuses on self interest first and non coercive, voluntary exchange that actually ends up producing the most goods, the highest satisfaction of individual preferences, and greatest realization of human potential -- far more than any coercive system does (Monarchy, Mercantilism, Socialism, Communism) that run against human nature.
"[Progressives] hold self-sacrifice to be a top virtue, but improving your circumstances (via profits and self interest) to be evil.
Similarly, the Left views capitalism (voluntary trading & the absence of force in economic matters) as evil, while they see collectivism and statism (where people are subjects and serfs to their masters that control the state) as virtuous."
Why? Because the Left considers equality of results (everyone ends up with the same) to be the highest ideal vs. equality of opportunity which the Constitution is based on.
The Left believes that life is a zero sum game and if someone has more it was at the expense of those who have less. Despite all the evidence, they simply don't trust that millions of free people in free markets making voluntary exchanges will lead to better results for all than plans for everyone developed and enforced by a few enlightened elites at the top.
