Who?

I'm not. I am a liberal but I didn't really like what the show eventually evolved into. It became all politics and the humor just became stale. I did initially find him funny and he is smart and witty but his schtick just became tired to me.I enjoyed the show more when Kilborn was the host. He was a prick but the show was funnier to me. So while I think that in general Jon Stewart is funny, I just became tired of the show overall.

True. And it is similar to what happened with the David Letterman show. I liked him early on but I could not watch the show in the later years. It became so political. And, how he went after Sarah Palin and her daughter was disgusting. Truly disgusting.
I also like John Stewart, but I'm not a huge fan of ANY political humor as it's just too easy of a topic...especially to an audience filled with people who generally lean the same way as you (Stewart); gotta impress me a bit more to gain my attention. All politicians suck, and I find little humor in bringing up their faulty ways.
He was on that show for a long time, and it's probably good for him to move on. I will be interested to see what he does as long as it's not political humor or commentary. Bill Maher is another one that I like personally, but I'm not a fan of his political humor (even though I'm a liberal). Maher was a kick a$$ standup comedian when he first started. Lost interest in him when he went political.

Yeah! This was the funniest moment from the Daily Show:
Jon Stewart: Conservatives
Audience: Boooo!!! Hiss!!!!!
Jon Stewart: are...
Audience: Gasp! *suspense*
Jon Stewart: stupid!
Audience: HAHAHAHAHAHA!!! *thunderous applause*
His comedic genius sure will be missed!

I disagree about Letterman. The Palins set themselves up for that and got what they deserved.
As a conservative I actually didn't mind the political humor of Jon Stewart. He, of course, was a liberal but he did it good-naturedly. Jay Leno too. He would poke fun at both political parties but always with a smile on his face. He did not do so with malice. Letterman's attacks were mean-spirited. Just really became a bitter, old political hack. Not so with Stewart and Leno.

Sarah Palin is an idiot but you don't go after the kids.
It's hard to decide if NPR will cry more at Stewart's departure or upon Obama's.

I'm another one that agrees. I haven't been able to watch an entire episode in years. It got very stale and way too politic and politically biased. But back in 1999-2002-ish, it was great. Look at the talent they had. Mo Rocca, Steve Carell, and Stephen Colbert were just correspondents on the show! They can all command their own shows now, and they were the bonus parts.
political guests were still a minority on his show, actors and comedians the majority. he did plenty of political bits, many exposing hypocrisy through clips of hypocrisy. easily the smartest guy on tv.

I lean left but I'm with Sally on this. Palin is crazy as fvck, but Letterman did just seem to get kind of nasty in his later years. I don't care how nuts Palin or her kids get, he seemed kind of dirty with the way he went after them. Plus, her daughter was a kid at the time. I was pretty young when the media was going after Chelsea Clinton, so I can't remember how viscous they were, but I seem to remember Letterman being pretty mean about that, too. It is wrong.
Letterman knew it was time to go, but he was about 5 years too late.

I think that's how Stewart started, but somewhere along the line he crossed over into the bitter, old political hack as well. Maybe he didn't quite cross the line, but he was definitely toe-ing it most of the time. He got out a little late, but he did himself a service by not getting out any later.

The irony that you are trying to make that point is hilarious.

True, though not as hilarious as the irony that Jon Stewart's farewell was completely overshadowed by a GOP debate of all things.
Not in the least. Stewart's heart was not into the show for at least the last couple years. I'm expecting Stewart to run for some political office sooner or later.
I'm actually looking forward to the new guy (forget his name). Truth is, the greatest thing about the Daily show is the concept. The real "news" shows serves up the comedy on a platter. But for Stewart he was getting bored and stale. A new upcoming guy I think will reenergize the show.
But I am still bummed out about Colbert. As time goes on I'm realizing there will never be a show quite like it.

Uh, they were on at different times. Try to keep up, Libby.
