who won?
2:15:17
Can Dita lodge a complaint? Totally unfair!
I though pacing (not for time but placemnt) was banned also
Deena won by around 4 seconds.....$#%@ didn't get the time, the race was too exciting.
Outside of 2:20 for sure. Somewhere around 2:21:30.
If I may put it succinctly; pacing should be banned. It effectively skewers what sports are all about-head to head competition and let the best athlete win.

anybody else amazed at this sham of a race - with verran pacing deena the whole way, aiding her when her competitor is closing in?
records aside, this is sportsmanship at its worst.
Deena's last mile was over 7 minutes!
2.21.22 to 2.21.28 for 2nd
Deena was 3 seconds off of her PR....but don't know what that is.

I agree completely. Very disappointing to see this.
Is the 2nd place woman a lifelong smoker? Geezus, did you hear her talk?
C. Dita sounds like a DUDE.
Women's 3rd placer comes in at 2:26:59....She's from Japan.
I disagree about the bad sportsmanship. Either he's a pacer or he's not.
Dita had one too Scott.

No she didn't. She was around a competitor at times, but no way was anyone pacing her. The last mile she was mostly by herself.
just because Verran was running with her doesn't mean that she wouldn't have won without the pacing...Dita had a pacer with her early on and she decided to run in front of him(chad Johnson)...she should have gone out a little more conservatively, and maybe she could have fun faster than Deena...don't cry over spilled milk...

agree that it is b.s., but i doubt it helped much. i was in a similar situation once, except i was "dita," in 2nd, with a bike pacer, chasing the leader and gaining fast at the end of a marathon. i could have let my friend pull me all the way in, but i told him to beat it with 2 miles left because even though he was "encouraging" me, his presence was a huge distraction.
though i seriously doubt this affected the outcome today, but PRIDE should have made deena tell him to beat it.
Verran pulled off to the side with 3/4 mile left. The paced was there for all elites, the others could not keep up.

I disagree with the whole pacing ordeal. At the same time, I'm not sure why everyone's only ripping on the last mile. Verran did bow out during the last few hundred yards. What's the problem???
